This Week In Philly

With only two weeks left, the holiday season is in full swing! As we prepare for the festivities, take time to enjoy everything the city has to offer. From pop-up markets to sports games to concerts, there’s something for everybody.  

Monday, December 10

  • All winter long enjoy the festive light show at Franklin Square Holiday Festival. Warm up by the fire pit, taste delicious treats, ride the carousel, and more!
  • Cheer on the Philadelphia 76ers as they take on the Detroit Pistons at the Wells Fargo Center at 7pm.
  • Get your resume ready and connect with valuable employers at Philadelphia’s Job Fair, hosted by Sulekha. Get the opportunity to speak directly with hiring managers about what qualities they are look for in future employees.
  • Meet Philadelphia Frontrunners at the William Way Community Center for a Monday Evening Run. The 5-mile run will loop the Delaware River and back through Old City.

Tuesday, December 11

  • Don’t miss Dave Matthews Band rock out at Wells Fargo Center on their Fall 2018 tour.
  • Don’t miss Bud & Marilyn’s popular Chicken n’ Bubbles Night. For $38/person, get a bottle of bubbly per two people, plus arancini and salad for the table. Then, their famous fried chicken is served family style with warm biscuits, mac and cheese, and broccoli slaw.
  • Don’t miss Last Minute Comedy Showcase. “Silk and the City.” Spend the night at Silk City laughing with BFFs Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha.
  • Fresh off Wiz Khalifa And Rae Sremmurd’s Dazed and Confused tour, catch artist Lil Skies perform live at The Fillmore.  

Wednesday, December 12

  • Dilworth Parks hosts Cocktails and Cold Ones. Enjoy an evening at Rothman Cabin sipping $6 cocktails, $5 wines, and $4 beers, along with specially priced food items.
  • Join the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia for their Holiday Lights Ride. After the ride, bring your decorated bikes to Tattooed Mom where the bike decorating contest winners will be announced. RSVP today!
  • This year marks the 15th Anniversary Celebration of Next City! The evening celebrates  impactful journalism with great cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and conversation.
  • The Philadelphia 76ers take on the Brooklyn Nets at the Wells Fargo Center at 7pm.
  • Meet Executive Director and Alumni of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, Elissa Bloom at their Open House. Tour Macy’s Center City and learn more about the Residency Program.

Thursday, December 13

  • South Philly Striders and Fishtown Beer Runners run the streets of South Philly to enjoy the holiday lights making this the 11th Annual Holiday Lights Run. No registration is required. After the run, eat, drink, and be merry with food and drink specials at Victory Beer Hall at XFINITY Live!
  • Put on your ugliest christmas sweater and join Philadelphia Runner for its Ugly Sweater Run with Brooks. Every mile ran will donate to high school track and XC teams in need. After the run, stick around for a chance to pick the ugliest sweater winner.
  • Bourbon Blue is proud to serve those who serve. Come out and help them Stuff the Bag For the Troops in the hopes of making their holidays a little bit brighter.
  • Philadelphia Film Society hosts Philly’s December Film Showcase. This showcase supports new works by talented up-and-coming local filmmakers of all ages, levels, and backgrounds, complete with a post-screening Q&As.

Friday, December 14

  • Celebrate the end of Prohibition at JD McGillicuddy’s Prohibition Party. Tickets are $40 in advance (45 at the door) and includes domestic beer, wine, and well drinks.
  • Every Friday in December, ring in the season at a decked out Trestle Inn at Jingle Bell Pop Happy Hour! Happy hour will feature drink specials, complimentary popcorn, Go Go by The Trestle Specials, and holiday classics from the 60s and 70s.
  • Wedding designer Hayley Paige presents her Fall 2018 Collection at her Philadelphia Trunk Show. Stop by Philly Bride in Old City and find your perfect dress.
  • Round out the week with Philadelphia 76ers versus Indiana Pacers at the Wells Fargo Center at 7pm.

Saturday, December 15

  • Join DVLF* for their special edition annual TOY event celebrating their 25th Anniversary – The TOY 2018 – Silver Jubilee. This evening will work to further empower and advance the LGBTQ community through various efforts.
  • The Fishtown Flea Holiday Market at La Colombe will showcase the work of local artists, designers, and makers from the Fishtown and Philadelphia communities. Vendors include Printfresh,  Hemlock and Hyde, The Tin Goat, Karen Tinney, Llani and more! Stop by and get some holiday shopping done.
  • Philly’s biggest winter festival, Running of the Santas MegaFest, takes over Xfinity Live! & Field House. Come out for a day full of bands and beer!
  • Relive the magic and wonder of the timeless classic holiday tale “The Polar Express” at The Franklin Institute’s Polar Express Day. Learn about the science behind snowflakes, sound, and more!
  • BiciSoul invites you to the first-ever Gritty Ugly Sweater Ride. Tour the city’s holiday lights on two wheels and listen to holiday music… all while dressed your Gritty-est gear.
  • Get merry this season at Philadelphia’s Santapalooza 2018. Spend your day crawling around Old City dressed as Santa or an elf, rock an ugly sweater, or sport your Hanukkah gear!

Sunday, December 16

  • Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest invites you to Visit with Santa. Sundays in December get a family photo with Ol’ Saint Nick and celebrate 25 seasons of winter fun on the waterfront.
  • The Imagination Players will be performing for Make A Wish Foundation at Christmas Village form 6 – 7 p.m. Experience the music and all that Christmas Village has to offer this season.
  • Spend your Sunday at City Tap House for Brunch With Santa from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. A $5 ticket goes towards the Valley Youth House!  
  • Join Roots Philly Yoga for Doggy Noses & Yoga Poses at Love City Brewing Company. The day benefits It’s A Ruff Life Rescue! Space is limited so be sure to get your ticket ASAP.
  • Philadelphia Theatre Company presents A Dream Is a Wish: Princess Holiday Concert. The show will feature over 15 holiday and popular movie-musical songs, including the titular song, “A Dream Is A Wish,” “Let It Go,” “Jingle Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “When Will My Life Begin.”
