Best Places to Watch the World Cup 2018

If you haven’t heard by now, the World Cup starts Thursday, June 14! It lasts all month long until Sunday, July 15. Even though Team USA didn’t make it to the World Cup this year, that doesn’t mean you should sit it out. We suggest digging into your family tree to see if you can cheer on your heritage!

We’re all familiar with the usual suspects, like Chickie and Pete’s, Xfinity Live, and McFaddens, as well-known sports bars. However, there are bars all throughout Philadelphia that dedicate themselves to soccer. These are the top locations if you want that true football fan energy. The weather is finally warmer, so grab a friend and a pint at one of these local popular soccer spots.

Fado Irish Pub

On top of playing all the World Cup soccer games, this authentic Irish bar is a great option for drinks and food as well. They open up extra early on Saturdays and Sundays for the games, so you don’t have to miss a thing!

Tir A Nog

Located on Arch Street, this Irish bar has been voted “The Best After Work Bar,” making it a great late night spot. While they’re not advertising early openings, they’ve been known to for soccer games in the past! Call ahead to confirm.

Fox & Hound

Perfect in between games or the halftime break, this bar supplies activities like darts, fooseball, and pool tables for added entertainment. If you’re in Center City, make sure you stop in for a cold one and grab some grub during the World Cup.

Misconduct Tavern

With two locations in Center City, stop by either Locust Street or JFK Boulevard. We recommend trying one of dozens of delicious burgers and sliders while watching some of the soccer action.

Hop Angel Brauhaus

This German gem is nestled in the Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood Fox Chase. Find authentic fare such as schnitzel, wurst, pierogies, and more while watching a game.

Grey Lodge

Owned by the same group as Hop Angel, this bar Frankford Avenue is known for their craft beer selection. Get here early to grab the best seat in the house since it’s pretty intimate inside.

Crafty’s Tap Room

Located on Grant Avenue, this Philly taproom has great finger food and sandwiches to enjoy during the World Cup. Set up like a beer garden, they have picnic tables for larger groups of soccer fans. Enjoy their beer bucket specials for the tournament.

Brickwall Tavern

At Brickwall Tavern, there’s room for the whole team to watch the World Cup. Conveniently located in the heart of Midtown Village, Brickwall features two bars, roomy red vinyl banquettes, several big screen tvs, and an easy-to-share, comfort food focused menu. Behind the bar, they have almost 20 local and regional rotating craft beers, plus 6 “residents”.

FIFA2018 World Cup

The games start with host team Russia vs. Saudi Arabia. No matter who you’re rooting for, throw on your team colors and celebrate!
