Women’s History Month #WCW | Alex Holley

As we go through March, we are continuing to put the spotlight on strong women throughout the Philadelphia community. You may recognize this week’s Women’s History Month #WCW from your television screen. Alex Holley is the co-host of FOX 29’s Good Day Philadelphia. Her warm and bubbly personality has us tuning into the show, but it’s her passion for being involved in local communities that really make her shine in our eyes.

A Career in Journalism

Prior to making her television debut, Alex attended the University of Missouri (Mizzou), one of the best journalism schools in the United States. Aside from graduating with a degree in journalism, this Mizzou Tiger had a double minor Sociology and Spanish. Alex’s journalism career officially began when she was hired as a reporter, anchor, and producer at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri. She also anchored for news outlet, Newsy.com, before landing as the FOX 29 Good Day Philadelphia co-host in the summer of 2014.

Making Change in Local Communities

During Alex’s college years, she created “SWIPES Make a Differences,” a community service program that allows students to donate their unused meal plans to the less fortunate. Alex continues her volunteer work with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha. She’s also a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists. Not only that, she supports local Philadelphia cause events. She’s brought her energy to events such as Preakness at the Piazza for the National MS Society, Fashion Touchdown for BBBS Independence Region, and more.

Worldly Aspirations

In her spare time, Alex loves to travel and has visited more than eleven different countries. After studying at the Universidad de Salamanca, Alex became skilled in speaking the Spanish language at the age of 13. She believes her proficiency in Spanish assists her in becoming a great journalist.

Social Butterfly

With over 89k followers on Instagram and almost 60k on Twitter, Alex stays in touch with her viewers with a strong social media presence. Her followers get the scoop with news highlights, exclusive events, and so much more. We love the behind-the-scenes content that often make us laugh out loud.

For more, catch Alex Holley every week day morning on Good Day Philadelphia from 7:00 to 10:00 a.m. on FOX 29 or follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
