Amanda White, Blog Contributor:
Since my time at Temple University and interning at Philly PR Girl, I’ve always had a passion for the City of Brotherly Love. With events hosted every season, beautiful skyline views and endless happy hour spots, there is never a dull moment in Philadelphia.
Rise and Shine
My favorite way to start my day is with a 5k run in the early AM. With so many beautiful running spots in Philly, my go-to spot is running from Dilworth Park (City Hall) to Cira Green and back. Cira Green sits 95-feet above street level on top of a parking garage on 80 S. 30th St. I’m always motivated to finish this run for the views, as the rooftop park overlooks Center City, University City and the Schuylkill River.
Lunch at FUEL
After a solid workout, I’m always hungry and Fuel hits the spot. Serving both healthy and delicious options, my favorite is the T.B.M. Pesto wrap with chicken. For an extra boost, I’ll pair it with the Protein Buster shake (peanut butter, banana, skim milk, honey, and whey protein). I’m getting hungry just thinking about it…
Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa
After a release of post-workout endorphins and a satisfied stomach, I’m ready to relax and recover. That takes me straight to Hand & Stone Logan Square. Whether it’s a facial or a full-body massage with a peppermint scalp massage upgrade (highly recommended), I always leave feeling blissfully refreshed.
Bike through Philly with Indego
I don’t have my own bike (best for everyone’s safety), but I love using Philly’s bike share program, Indego! With bikes in almost every neighborhood, I can exercise, explore and easily access transportation for only $4 every half hour. Be sure to download the Indego app and check out the dock locations before your first ride.
Dinner at Pizzeria Vetri
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE pizza. Pizzeria Vetri is one of my favorites in Philly, as evidenced by the fact that I can kill a whole pie by myself. (Just ask Victoria.) I love the margarita pizza, as it is thin, fresh and delicious! Outside seating is also a plus.
Nightcap at BOK Bar
By far, BOK Bar is my favorite rooftop bar with its breathtaking views from South Philly. The history of it being located in a former vocational school is so unique. BOK offers delicious Asian-inspired eats, tasty drinks, and fun games. Hurry before it closes for the season on Sept. 29!
This post was very special for me because I am moving to Italy at the end of September. I’ll be teaching elementary students English for a couple months. Follow me on Instagram for a peek into my Philly past, an upcoming little European adventure, and more Philly love once I’m back!
Stay tuned for another local’s guide from another team member!
