Firefly Music Festival is taking over The Woodlands of Dover, DE in one week, and if you’re like us, you’re counting down the days. Before you can dance the day (and night) away to three full days of musical acts, we want to help make it the most unforgettable festival experience.
Festival fashion packing tips…
- Dress for the weather! Last year’s festival was hot, rainy and muddy, so check the forecast before packing so you’re not underprepared and overwhelmed. Stick to loose fitting and comfortable clothes, such as dresses, rompers shorts and tank tops.
- Bring a sweatshirt or a light jacket for nighttime. It can get chilly after sundown, whether you’re dancing to a late night DJ set or hanging out at the campsite.
- Pack an old pair of shoes, whether it rains or not. Your shoes are most likely going to get destroyed, so don’t wear your brand new shoes just because you think they’ll make your outfit look better.
You may not have thought of…
- Charge your portable phone charger to help avoid long lines at charging stations. You don’t want to spend your time missing amazing bands just to charge your phone.
- Bring a spare car key may seem silly at first, but when you’re waiting for AAA to come unlock your car, you’re going to wish you had your spare.
- Add a flagpole to your campsite so it’s easier for everyone in your party to find.
- Change your lock screen to a screenshot of a note saying “If found, please call [insert name and number of your most responsible friend at Firefly]”.
Before you go to the festival grounds…
- Look at the lineup schedule beforehand and choose who you want to see. There may be two acts playing at the same time. Being efficiently prepared will help get good spots at whichever act you decide on.
- Eat a full meal since eating on the grounds can be on the pricey side. Bring enough food for breakfast and dinner before and after the festival everyday. You’re going to be happy to have extra money at the end.
- Wear sunscreen and hydrate! Bring in an empty water bottle into the festival grounds to refill throughout the day.
- Pick a meeting spot in the festival in case anyone in your party gets lost or their phones are dead/not getting signal.
Things you should prepare to be annoyed with…
- Assume you’re going to feel a little dirty. After all, being in the heat all day then camping for 3 nights will get you hot and sweaty. Our favorite quick-and-easy cleansers include dry shampoo and freshening wipes.
- You’re also going to be tired! Sleeping in tents in heat of the summer is not comfortable, but there’s not much time for sleeping anyway; some acts start as late as 1:15 a.m.
- Prepare to encounter the masses. There will be many lines and crowds. With about 90,000 attendees, it’s going to be crowded. As with all festivals, be patient and be kind!
