Last Thursday, MANNA hosted its sold out Guac Off! at Morgan’s Pier. Eleven Philly restaurants competed to be named this year’s Guac Masters. The evening was filled with chips, drinks, and of course tons of guac! Guac lovers enjoyed a beautiful evening and nonstop music all while helping support MANNA’s mission to prepare and deliver meals to individuals battling life-threatening illnesses.
Judges made their way around to competitors to choose the winner of the Judges’ Choice award. Although each competitor put their heart into their guac, there could only be one winner. The 2016 Judges’ Choice winner was Revolution Taco!
Along with crowning Revolution Taco as a 2016 Guac Master, the People’s Choice winner, Square 1682 Restaurant, was also named MANNA’s 2016 Guac Off! Guac Master!
And of course, our team had their favorites!
- Along with most of the guac enthusiasts, Brandon and Grace loved Square 1682 Restaurant. The pieces of pickled watermelon – not to mention, serving it with their own chips – really set them apart from the other competitors!
- Both Kate and Catron’s favorite was Cafe Ynez’s guac. As adamant fans of pineapple, the pieces of pineapple in Cafe Ynez’s guacamole sealed the deal for these two’s choice!
Congratulations to both this year’s competitors and to this year’s winners!
