What’s going on This Week in Philly…

Monday, April 11

  • The 2016 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival is being held until April 17! Celebrate all things Japanese with pink blossoms of 1,000 cherry tress, Taiko drum, origami masterpieces, and sushi-making!
  • The Phillies are back with Opening Day! Watch them take on the San Diego Padres at Citizens Bank Park as baseball season kicks back into gear!

 

Tuesday, April 12

  • There is a free concert at the Theatre for the Living Arts! Hear the band RECESS and watch cutting-edge students pitch ideas to judges. Admission is free with RSVP and you get priority entry with a student ID.

 

Wednesday, April 13

  • Various restaurants throughout the city and Greater Philadelphia area are participating in Caribbean Cuisine Week! Delicious Caribbean and Latin-inspired meals and drinks will be prepared to help bring over 700 economically disadvantaged Caribbean high school athletes to compete in the Penn Relays!

 

Thursday, April 14

  • The annual Preakness at the Piazza event is hosting a happy hour from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Stratus Lounge! A $10 suggested donation to the MS Society at the door gets you one complimentary drink. Help a good cause and drink with a view at this rooftop bar.
  • Attention Game of Thrones fans! The Eastern State Penitentiary is turning into the seven kingdoms of Westeros from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. for the special release party of their latest Game of Thrones beer, Seven Kingdoms Hoppy Wheat Ale! Make your way through the kingdoms and sample beer, while enjoying meats and cheeses courtesy of Di Bruno Bros. At the end of the walk, you’ll be able to sit atop the Iron Throne!
  • The Philadelphia Business Journal is hosting their Tech Disruptor Awards to celebrate the creativity in the technology field! 25 people who have made their mark will be honored at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown Hotel beginning at 5 p.m.

 

Friday, April 15

  • Bid on live and silent auction items to support The Philadelphia Orchestra during On That Note at World Café Live! Eat a delicious dinner and hear the fabulous music provided by the Orchestra violinist Jason DePue and Friends.
  • Bring the kids to see Sesame Street Live “Let’s Dance!” at the Liacouras Center! The performance begins at 7 p.m. You don’t want your children to miss all the fun!

 

Saturday, April 16

  • If you’re a blogger, sign up for the PHLBloggers Conference The Blog Connect. You’ll hear successful bloggers speak and give advice, and hear from our very own Kate and Jess on how to turn your blog into a business!
  • Journey back in time to London in the sixties for a fundraiser at the Philadelphia Museum of Art! Art After Dark will feature live performances and a special inside exhibition called International Pop.
  • The designers of MAARK Concept are having an Arthur & Daughters trunk show from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at their boutique on South Street. The designer Hilary Arthur will be there with her fabulous spring collection!

Sunday, April 17

  • Celebrate those being honored for their leadership in the LGBT community at Hotel Monaco for DVLF’s 2016 Heroes* Don’t miss the one and only Mayor Jim Kenney be one of the honorees!
