For our second #WomanCrushWednesday of 2016, we’re excited to feature Katie Everett! Well-known in the Philadelphia area for her philanthropic efforts, Katie is extremely driven and passionate for connecting people with causes important to them and making a meaningful difference in the lives around her.
Katie is the Social Impact Director for Benjamin’s Desk community, Community Manager for Startup Grind AND Founder & CEO of Philly Gives, a social impact initiative with the mission of maximizing positive community impact in Philadelphia. Katie never misses an opportunity to give back in The City of Brotherly Love!
Prior to founding her own company, Katie shares how her personal mentor, Jen Groover, challenged her to really think about what her purpose was. Jen advised, “Take a step back – instead of trying to figure out what it is you’re supposed to be doing, think about the impact you want to make in this world. Start chasing your passion, because that will lead you to your purpose.” A few months later, Philly Gives was launched.
With a goal of making giving back fun and easy, Katie says, “There is no such thing as a small thing when it comes to making a difference in someone’s life.”
Katie’s 10-year-old daughter, Kayla, is already taking strides to make a difference in hunger relief because she finds it appalling that there are kids her age who are unsure of where their next meal is going to come from. Over the past two years, Kayla channeled her passion into action and led her school in collecting close to 2,000 jars of PB&J for Philabundance’s ‘Spread The Love’ campaign! Did we mention Kayla and her 5th grade class were featured on CBS3 because of their great deed? Talk about hunger heroes!
If you’re interested in giving back, be sure to save your seat for Philly Gives’ upcoming Nonprofit Workshop Series, kicking off on April 18 with Independence Blue Cross Foundation entitled “Maximizing Your Corporate Partnerships – Waste Less Time. Do Less Paperwork. Secure More Funding.”
Connect with the extremely motivated and humble Katie Everett! She is a networking guru, and is currently seeking partners within the business, media, and community space who have a passion for innovation and desire to make an impact in the community.
