Philly Current Magazine celebrated their 4th PC Picks Issue in style on Thursday, March 10 at Buffalo Billiards in Old City. The venue was transformed from pool hall into party hotspot, with a guest list so awesome you’d wish you were there!
PC Picks is Philly Current’s annual edition that highlights some of the greatest people and places in Philadelphia in original categories like “Place Where You Want To Be A Regular,” “Beer Empire On The Rise,” and “Best Denim Doctors.” Some special guests included cover man and mural master Alloyius McIlwaine, Fox 29’s Mike Jerrick, Alex Holley, and Jenni Joyce, along with 96.5 AMP Radio’s Bex & Mike Adam, CBS3 sports anchor Pat Gallen, Geno Vento of Geno’s Steaks, and many more. The majority of guests were PC Picks winners, including Gina Gannon for “Best Hair”, Terri Matthews for “Breakout Influencer,” My New Philly as the “Best Way to Keep You Up to Date,” and E.M. Ricchini for “Fashion and Lifestyle Blog.”
Eddie Keels, publisher and owner of Philly Current, is proud of the hard work and authenticity put into this issue. He said: “The PC Picks Issue is a special, annual edition that’s both for Philadelphia and by Philadelphia – chosen by the Philly Current staff, as well as the fine people of this great city! From the start, we thought there was a strong need to celebrate the amazingness this city had to offer, without depending on ad-buys or anything else of a political or monetary nature. Our categories are like nothing you’ve ever heard before. Reading about ‘Best Cheesesteak’ and ‘Best Laundromat’ year after year in other publications becomes stale very quickly. All we throw are curveballs with our PC Picks Issue and we love that the city has embraced this special edition since day one!”
While attendees filled up the second floor private lounge, friendly competitions began on the shuffleboard and pool tables as DJ Joey Vespe of JSV Entertainment took over the music. The drinks were overflowing thanks to liquor sponsors Fireball and Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka. With tasty drinks named Winners Whiskey and PC Tea, we can guarantee the bartenders were busy!
Of course, no party is complete without the food – all of which was provided by PC Picks winners this year. Pastificio Deli served up some amazing baked ziti and meatball sandwiches while Revolution Taco brought out the brisket tacos. The food didn’t end there because the desserts seemed endless! Sweet Box provided mini red velvet, chocolate peanut butter, and strawberry and champagne cupcakes. ChocAmo set up a macaron tower with samples of their cookie cups and Cupcakes by Ruth whipped up the sweetly oversized PC Picks cupcake, making sure to leave guests satisfied and full.
The 4th PC Picks issue was published and distributed on Monday, March 7. Philly Current Magazine is distributed across 300 high-traffic locales throughout the region; including supermarkets, high-end retail locations, offices, salons, hotels, coffee shops, and fooderies throughout Center City, Old City, South Philadelphia, University City, Fairmount, Northern Liberties, South Jersey, Main Line, and other suburbs. Subscriptions are available for purchase online here.
