Connor Barwin Bikes Down Broad

Eagles linebacker Connor Barwin is normally seen on the Lincoln Financial Field, but today he was spotted somewhere different: on a bike heading down Broad Street.

The typical commute for any inner city dweller usually involves two wheels and a helmet, compared to four wheels for the surrounding suburbs. Barwin biked on Monday, October 5 to promote the new Indego Bike Share and a greener way of getting around in the city. After all, who likes being stuck in Philly traffic anyway?

bloggersCapital One sponsored the ride, as they are teaming up with Indego to become the official banking sponsor of the city of Philadelphia’s bike share program. Their slogan? Banking and biking made easy.

Local bloggers gathered at the Indego Station at the corner of Broad and Federal to ride these newly popular bikes all the way down Broad Street to the Linc. Capital One supplied bikers with the helmets and shirts!

Barwin lead the way to the stadium, racing some of the fellow bloggers as the fleet made its way south. Luckily no one honked at our group, since we took up the whole right lane of the street! After a 20 minute ride to the field, Barwin expressed his fondness for biking in the city.

“I love biking. Many of my teammates and I bike to practice. It’s a great way to see the city,” Barwin said to CBS3.biking

Earlier this spring, Indego opened up bike stations across Philadelphia, which can be found at these cross sections: 9th and Arch streets, 19th and Lombard streets, Girard and Leopard streets, 38th and Lancaster streets, 10th and Reed streets, 17th and Girard streets, 6th and Fairmount streets, 21st and Catherine streets, Broad and Federal streets, and 24th and Sansom streets.

Indego’s mission is to create a progressive and innovative way to travel, while promoting healthy and sustainable living and active transportation.
