Where to Watch the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao Fight in Philly

If you’re not a boxing fan by now, don’t wait another minute to hop on the bandwagon.

This Saturday, May 2nd, hero meets villain in what some are calling the “Fight of the Century”. With an undefeated record, the understandably arrogant, sometimes disrespectful, Floyd “Money” Mayweather, Jr. (47-0, 26 KOs) faces the very lovable, congressman/humanitarian/role model-by-day, Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao (57-5-2, 38 KOs).

At 36 years old, Pacquiao spends his time outside of the ring giving back to his country and the good people of the Philippines. In blatant contrast, Mayweather surrounds himself with exotic cars, an entourage of voluptuous women, and obscene amounts of cold, hard cash. These two fighters couldn’t be more different.

If it weren’t for Mayweather’s immense talent, this polarizing character would certainly be viewed in a much different light among those in the boxing world; but like him or not, there’s no mistaking his undeniable place at the top of his game. His trademark motto, “Hard work, Dedication,” has laid the foundation for an unwavering path which has led him directly to the peak of success in his field. To date, Mayweather is, arguably, the best pound-for-pound fighter of our time. He’s certainly the highest paid. According to Forbes, in this single 36-minute fight whether he wins or loses, Mayweather will crush Tiger Wood’s record as the highest paid athlete making $25 million more than Tiger Woods in his record-breaking year (2008) and $35 million more than what Beyonce made all last year.

Pacquiao recently suffered two sensational defeats to Timothy Bradley in 2012 (in a very unreasonable, controversial decision) and to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2013, where Pac-Man was knocked out cold for the first time since 1999. He is now coming off three strong wins including a decisive rematch with Bradley. This weekend, Pacquiao prepares to face his greatest opponent yet in a fight that boxing aficionados weren’t quite sure would ever happen. Now, the fight of the century is expected to shatter the all-time pay-per-view sales record with an expected 3 million fans purchasing the fight. Tickets to the live event at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas selling for unbelievable six-figure prices. After years in the making, this incredible fight is just within our field of view, so don’t miss it!

(If you’re still not convinced, not one, but TWO Philadelphia natives are fighting on this history-making undercard! Get out early to watch Jesse Hart of North Philadelphia face Mike Jimenez, and stay tuned as Anthony Caputo Smith of Kennett Square faces Andrew Tabiti.)
