Here are our must-attend events this week in Philly…

Monday, April 28th

  • Cher: Dressed to Kill Tour – In promotion of her 26th studio album, Closer to the Truth, the lady and the legend Cher brings her “D2K Tour 2014” to the Wells Fargo Center. The show starts at 7:30 pm and tickets cost $25 – $156.
  • Phanatics: Philadelphia’s Love/Hate Relationship with Sports – Relieve the best and worst in Philadelphia sports history with local phanatics at Frankford Hall during PSW14. Gain some insight into why a game can cause you to suffer such extreme reactions, and receive a new perspective on how players have to deal with pressure.

Tuesday, April 29th

  • Philadelphia Bar, Nightlife and Hospitality Convention – The PBNHC annual gathering for nightlife and hospitality professionals is a one-of-a-kind networking and business opportunity for owners, managers and personnel. The event kicks off Monday with a party at Xfinity Live, and takes place across Tuesday and Wednesday at the Crystal Tea Room.
  • Odd Girl Out: The Hidden Culture of Aggression in Girls – Temple Theatres produces the world premiere of this verbatim stage adaptation of a docudrama which reveals the aggression among pre-teen and teenage girls. Playing this week only, through May 3rd.

Wednesday, April 30th

  • Preakness at the Piazza Pre Party – This year the event of the Spring, taking place on May 17th, is having a special Pre-Party at Boyds for tickets holders, media, and sponsors of the event.  If you are planning on going to Preakness at the Piazza come to the Pre-Party, buy your ticket, and stay to mingle with Philadelphia’s most fashionable and charitable young professionals. ***
  • Philadelphia International Children’s Festival – Take the family out to the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts for the Children’s Festival’s 30th birthday celebration. From the 30th to May 4th, there will be family-friendly theatre shows, interactive activities, and an outdoor plaza Fun Zone.
  • Di Bruno Bros. Pick the Perfect Bite – In honor of their 75th anniversary, Di Bruno Bros. is hosting a live “taste-off” event to raise funds for a state-of-the-art Neighborhood Kitchen in St. James School (Allegheny West). Sample and judge cheese and charcuterie spreads, pasta and gourmet flatbreads with accompanying beer and wine for $35 per person.

Thursday, May 1st

  • Career Domination: Get Hired – Girl Develop It is hosting a class workshop on how to ace the interview, correctly follow up, and receive the ideal job offer. Bring a copy of your resume and a notebook to take down these tips!
  • Top of the City – Enjoy a cocktail 52 floors up at the Pyramid Club during the region’s premier real estate networking event. Cherry Hill’s R&R hosts the event, sponsored by H&A Brokerage and PJR Capital Consultants, from 6 to 8 pm.

Friday, May 2nd

  • DrinkPhilly’s First Friday Party – The team is brewing up another quarterly art show at the Hamilton Family Arts Center during Old City’s First Friday event. Enjoy three hours of free local art, music, drinks and food. RSVP required.
  • The AL DÍA Conversation Series with Governor Jack Markell – As part of AL DÍA News Media’s political series of public dialogue, join Governor Jack Markell at 8:30 am with coffee and a networking opportunity. There will be a Q&A panel afterwards. Event is free to attend, but RSVP and business dress is required.
  • Jenny McCarthy’s Dirty, Sexy, Funny – This one-hour special at the Keswick Theatre highlights the scandalous comedy of an electrifying cast of female comedians, daring to discuss what it’s like to be a woman. Vignettes will include stand-up by Paula Bel, Tiffany Haddish, Lynne Koplitz, Justine Marino, and Tammy Pescatelli.
  • Spring at the Mansion  –  Join the Philadelphia Art Alliance as they host the most influential young movers and shakers for a night out on Rittenhouse Square. Guests will enjoy an open bar, music , and much more.  Support the PAA, dress up and dance the night away.

Saturday, May 3rd

  • Derby Day – MAX JOY hosts their first event on Derby Day at the The Crescent Boat Club on Boathouse Row. Their mission in promoting a lifestyle of maximum enjoyment shines through with an open bar from 3 to 9 pm, a Southern-style barbeque buffet, and music, fun, games and prizes.
  • Sister Cities Park International Festival – In its second year, Philadelphia’s 10 Sister Cities pull their cultures and traditions together for a celebration of dance, art, and musical performances on the Ben Franklin Parkway. There will be a large food and wine pavilion, guests from cultural foundations and societies across Philadelphia, and a full schedule of entertainment.
  • The World’s Largest Bar Crawl – The city is ready to set a Guinness World Record for the largest bar crawl ever, with 15,000 people in participation. Raise your glasses in NoLibs, Rittenhouse, University City, South Philly, Midtown – you name it – and make your way through your choice of over 100 restaurant and bar locations.

Sunday, May 4th

  • Cinco de Mayo Brunch – Barra is hosting a celebratory Cinco de Mayo brunch for those who can’t drink on the fifth. Come in to their location on 3rd and Chestnut for a $10 burger and beer combo, and $3 mimosas all day long.
  • Zumbathon for MS 2014 – Dance your way to a cure for Multiple Sclerosis at the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum. Support the National MS Society by raising $125 to participate in this two-hour fitness party, or offer your time as a volunteer.
  • Pay-What-You-Wish at the Rodin Museum – Every day admission to the Rodin Museum is on a donation basis! Explore the astounding historic works of French sculptor Auguste Rodin inside the museum and outdoors on the garden paths, and get up-close access to famous works like The Thinker, which made Rodin the “father of modern sculpture”.
