We recently had the opportunity to attend a special pop-up preview of the Let Them Eat Cake event, hosted by the City of Hope Foundation. The preview gave us a small taste of what the actual event will be like on Monday, April 7th at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel. This year’s theme for the competition is “Fantasy Weddings,” and these cakes definitely took us on a journey.
For its 10th anniversary, Let Them Eat Cake is holding nothing back. This year’s competition will feature over 40 cakes made by both professional and student bakers, with complimentary pieces for guests to sample. The judges panel will be made up of former White House chef, John Moeller, and the owners of New York’s City Cakes, Benny Rivera and Marc Matthias. This year’s event is special because attendees will have a say in a new category called “People’s Choice” for their favorite cake. We recommend coming with an empty stomach because there are so many amazing desserts to try!
Brides-to-be and foodies alike can enjoy sampling cake for a cause as well as check out the new Sweetheart Tablescape competition. But it’s more than just desserts; there will be plenty of Korbel champagne to sip while dancing the night away to the band, BVT Live. There will also be an opportunity to meet celebrity judges John Moeller, Benny Rivera, and Marc Matthias. Let Them Eat Cake promises to be a wonderful evening to support a great cause.
Tickets are $40 in advance and $50 at the door. All proceeds will go to the City of Hope Foundation that works towards advancements in ending cancer, HIV/AIDS, and other life-changing illnesses. For ticket information or to register by phone, please contact Harry Giordano at 215-985-0869.
