Philly PR Girl attended the 1st Annual Philly Sports Roast featuring someone who needs no introduction to Philadelphia, former Eagles wide receiver Terrell Owens, better known as T.O. For all you football fans, especially during the 2004 season, you’ll remember how thrilling that time was. A lot of that excitement was attributed to T.O. However, his time with the Philadelphia Eagles was short-lived, and for that, T.O. came back to settle a little unfinished business.
This inaugural roast, spearheaded by local funnyman Joe Conklin, went without a hitch. From the moment the program began, jabs were already being thrown across the Crystal Tea Room. Julie Dorenbos and Susie Celek opened up with a few zingers of their own, not only directed at T.O. but towards each other and the other presenters. The trend continued with each presenter taking turns poking jabs at one another along with the man of the evening.
The event was a huge success, especially because proceeds were benefiting a great cause. All Hands Working is a charity dedicated to reducing the line of duty deaths of firefighters due to cardiovascular problems. Reflecting upon the evening Conklin says, “I thought it was a very successful night. They knew it was a winner and everyone had a lot of fun.” He also goes on to say, “We’re hoping to do this annually. We were pretty pleased. We’ll take everything into consideration. It was a good time and I think everybody was happy.” (CBS Philly)
