Northern Liberties has become a bustling neighborhood for contemporary apartments, an entertaining bar scene, and a collection of top-notch restaurants. We recently visited to check out a cutting edge New American cuisine restaurant, Suppa. Located on Liberties Walk, this BYOB just opened this past fall. Recently,we arrived with empty stomachs for Suppa’s special Food Blogger night.
The night started off on a fun note while we were snacking chili lime popcorn and playing classic board games like Connect Four and Hungry, Hungry Hippos. (Hint: a great icebreaker for first dates!) As our entree samplers arrived, we enjoyed comfort food dishes with a twist such as tandoori fried chicken and shrimp and grits. The bucatini bolognese had all of the carb-lovers bearing big smiles and full stomachs. Suppa has a knack for taking the classics and adding a surprising kick that will have your taste buds extremely satisfied.
As you can tell, this is not a typical “New American” restaurant. Suppa has a unique menu built to please even the pickiest of eaters. While keeping crowd pleasers like their mac and cheese and roasted turkey reuben, the restaurant changes part of their menu every week. Diners can expect anything from oyster po’boys to chicken saltimbocca. Not only are there savory dishes lively, Suppa knows dessert should never be boring either. You’ll never find a dessert menu here because new treats are freshly whipped up every day.
Don’t have time to dine-in? Good news: carry-out is offered Tuesday through Sunday. Not to mention they’re on GrubHub, so you can have Suppa delivered to your doorstep! This new addition to Northern Liberties prides itself on a menu that is both “creative, yet comfortable.” So next time you’re looking for a fun brunch, easy lunch spot, or a thirsty dinner with friends, head to Suppa at 1040 N American Street. Tempt yourself by checking them out online before you go on their site, www.timeforsupppa.com, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook.
