Though we never need a good reason to dress up, there are plenty of them this season! Philadelphia is full of upcoming black-tie galas held for good causes that range from historic preservation to children’s welfare. It doesn’t hurt that it’s Awards Season and we’ll have plenty of red carpet inspiration.
This year marks the 20th annual Hair O’ The Dog gala on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at the Sheraton in downtown Center City. The party supports The Claddagh Fund’s community-based non-profits with a focus on children and veterans organizations and programs that support alcohol and drug rehabilitation in cities across the country and around the world. Come dressed in your Gatsby-inspired attire and continue all night through to the after party at G Lounge.
The white-tie 157th Academy Anniversary Concert and Ball will be held Saturday, January 25, 2014 at the Academy of Music. The concert will feature conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, followed by dinner and dancing at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. Celebrating the birthday of the Academy of Music, this event will help support the restoration and preservation of this historic landmark. This year’s special guest is singer-songwriter Jill Scott .
Preview the Philadelphia Auto Show’s 650,000 sq. ft. of wood grain, leather and steel with the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation Black Tie Tailgate on Friday, February 7, 2014 at the Philadelphia Convention Center. All proceeds benefit the Division of Neonatology at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The Auto Show will be in town from Saturday, February 8 until Sunday, February 16, 2014.
On March 8, 2014, look forward to the Human Rights Campaign Philadelphia Region Gala Dinner at Loews Hotel in the heart of the city. As the largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, the Human Rights Campaign represents a force of more than 1.5 million members and supporters nationwide.
Also on March 8, 2014 the American Red Cross hosts the Red Ball at the Please Touch Museum’s Memorial Hall. This ball will take guests on a journey of delicious cuisine offered by the Philadelphia region’s best restaurants and caterers. Expect more than 1,300 of Greater Philadelphia’s social community and business leaders at this “red tie” gala. Features of the evening include a VIP Lounge with live music by jazz artist Gerald Veasley, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres from the finest local restaurants, and an unrivaled electronic silent auction and raffle.
