Fall Music in the City

The Philly music scene has been bumpin’ lately as concerts are beginning to kick off a very busy fall season. We have been all over the city attending as many shows as possible, and two of them being truly unforgettable evenings: Vampire Weekend at The Mann Music Center and The Local Natives at The Electric Factory.

Fall was definitely in the air as Vampire Weekend played an extremely energetic show toward the close of September.  It was a brisk and beautiful night for music, and the band definitely brought their excitement and played a 21-song set list from all three of their albums. They opened with a new favorite, Diane Young, and instantly the entire crowd was screaming every word. The set design was visually enticing as it was decorated like a vintage dining room; flowers, mirrors, candelabras were everywhere. As the evening came to a close, Vampire Weekend played a few of the crowd favorites from their first album and ended with Walcott. It was definitely a night to remember.

After first seeing this LA based band play once, we were hooked. At the Electric Factory a couple weeks ago, the Local Natives blew the audience away and played an intimate, passionate and loud show. These indie rockers took the stage by storm as they played non-stop for almost two hours with songs from their first album and most recent LP, Hummingbird. It was one of the best concerts this year, and you could tell the entire crowd didn’t want the show to end.
