Many consider Memorial Day Weekend to be the unofficial beginning of summer. Philadelphia has also considered the week after MDW to signal the onset of warmer weather and easier living due to Center City Sips.
Starting this Wednesday and every Wednesday this summer, dozens of Center City bars and restaurants will be offering $5 cocktails, $4 wine, $3 beer, and half-priced appetizers from 5-7PM. Fewer things are more “summer” than BBQ and beer. Devil’s Alley has that covered. Happy hour is never dull at Lucky Strike where you can eat, drink, and bowl. Enjoy their $5 you-call-it cocktails, Don Qollins; $4 La Terre Chardonnay, La Terre Merlot, La Terre Cabernet Sauvignon, La Terre White Zinfandel; $3 Blue Moon, Bud Light, Miller Lite, Yuengling Lager, Victory Headwaters, Troeggs Dreamweaver, Stella Artois, Widmer Seasonal, Sam Adams Seasonal; and half-off short rib quesadillas, chicken tostada, fried veggie sticks, pretzel dog.
Hands down, my favorite summer drink in the city is at Smokin’ Betty’s. It’s the grilled fruit rum punch! Enjoy it during Sips for $5!
