Philadelphia’s Dining Out For Life Returns on April 20

Philly’s biggest dining fundraiser, Dining Out For Life (DOFL), is right around the corner! Action Wellness (formerly ActionAIDS) invites you to join 200 of the hottest restaurants in the Philadelphia area for this year’s event. Next Thursday, on April 20, grab your friends, family, and coworkers for a meal that gives back. Founded in Philadelphia in 1991, Dining Out For Life is now produced in 60 cities throughout the United States and Canada and raises over $4 million annually for HIV/AIDS service organizations. Last year, Philadelphia alone raised $200,000, with all money raised in the city (less an annual licensing fee) staying locally.

Dining Out For Life makes giving to a cause as easy as enjoying a great meal. Find your favorite participating restaurant, make a reservation for Thursday, April 20, and the restaurant will donate 33% of your food bill to Action Wellness and local AIDS service organizations. Many restaurants are also donating the 33% of drinks. Don’t miss a chance to try the Action IPA, the special beer collaboration with Yards Brewing.  If you’re traveling, don’t forget to check the site for other cities’ DOFL date in April.

Food truck fans rejoice! Dining Out For Life’s Food Truck Pop Up is returning this year! Between the hours of 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., take a lunch break in the heart of the Gayborhood on the 1300th block of Locust Street. This year’s food trucks include favorites such as Waffles & Wedges, Mama’s Meatballs, Cupcake Carnivale, The Tot Cart, and many more! The trucks will also donate 33% of their sales to Action Wellness.

New to the program this year, the first Makers Market will debut at the Food Truck Pop Up. The Makers Market is a group of artisans who help supply DOFL restaurants. Vendors range from locally ReAnimator Coffee’s roasted coffee to sweet ice cream by Weckerly’s. Other featured goods include John and Kira’s chocolates, Manatawny Still Works spirits, Soom Foods tahini, and Birchrun Hills Farm cheese. All will be selling their goods in the Makers Market area during the Food Truck Pop Up. Throughout the month of April, you will also be able to find exclusive Dining Out For Life products from Weckerly’s and ReAnimator Coffee in the month of April. Each company will be donating 33% of the sales from their DOFL flavor. Stay tuned for the official release of these products.
