Unsure of where to have your birthday party in Philly?! Tired of visiting the same old places? We’ve rounded up a list featuring a variety of fun spots in different neighborhoods, offering everything from karaoke to bowling, dive bars, music venues, and fancier locations. For all those 21 and older, check out our top picks!

South Philly

Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar – “Good Times, Cold Drinks & Great Friends”

This local hipster bar is a great place to celebrate when you just want to be around people who know your name. There is karaoke on No Cover Fridays, local bands on Saturdays, and tons of beer specials. This place is also right near Pat’s and Geno’s – the perfect drunk food!

Fat Tuesdays – Right on South Street, this bar has a great outdoor deck that’s perfect for people watching. What’s more, Fat Tuesday’s has the ultimate list of frozen drinks. You can purchase a refillable cup, which is convenient and also fun when taking photos as a group. The drinks are well-priced and strong. Beware of brain freeze!

XFINITY Live! – Book the VIP section for your birthday with custom lounge seating, personal VIP hostesses, and access to private bar areas. Bounce around to variety of venues inside: 1100 Social, a unique style of dining; Broad Street Bullies Pub with 48 beers on tap; the NBC Sports Arena, a stadium experience in itself; PBR Bar & Grill (we dare you to ride the bull); and Victory Beer Hall, great for lovers of craft beers! As a bonus, you can round out the night with a bucket of crab fries from Chickie’s and Pete’s.

Northern Liberties

Frankford Hall – This gem is great in all weathers. Grab a picnic table, a giant pretzel, and challenge your friends to a competitive game of Jenga or ping-pong. Tons of beer options, hot apple cider, shareable snacks. If your party is 20 or more, you can reserve a space.

Barcade – Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac Man and more! The original arcade bar, with classic video games and american craft beer. The vibe here is great, competitive yet friendly.

PYT – Located in the Piaza, PYT has the CRAZIEST burgers, a fun place to bring your friends and see who can eat the most! Oh and adult shakes to choose from. How about chocolate dipped bacon? Not convinced yet, check it out for yourself

Chinatown

Yakatori Boy – Eat, Drink, Karaoke. That’s the motto at this Japas lounge, boasting tons of private rooms in which you and your friends can order great sushi, special drinks, and belt the night away. Their happy hour is unbeatable, and the tapas style menu is perfect for sharing with a group.

Brick and Mortar – New to the Callowhill neighborhood, Brick and Mortar offers traditional fare with a twist. Boozy brunches are always fun, try a Bloody Mary or Mimosa, or if you’re looking to step out of the box, try an Oyster Shooter or Inigo Montoya (an orange juice and egg white cocktail)

The Troc – The Trocadero is the only 19th century Victorian theater still in operation in the United States. Not a history buff? This music venue has full bar service, a concession stand, a balcony to keep it more intimate, and amazing artists coming in to play all the time. Plus, they do other fun events like movie screenings, dance parties, and more!

Center City

Lucky Strike – Let’s take it back to when we were younger and had our birthday parties at bowling alleys, but this time add alcohol, great food, and a cooler atmosphere. Friends who may not want to wear those bowling shoes can shoot pool. Book your party and have one of their party planners help make your upcoming birthday the best one yet!

Howl at the Moon – A different taste of a piano bar, this outpost houses a full band that will play almost anything you request. The fish bowls and shooters will make sure you are up on your feet and dancing. Send the birthday boy/girl up on stage or request a special shout-out. (Oh! And you get a shot on the house.)

Top of the Tower – Looking for something a little more eloquent? This restaurant has a view you will never forget. The open windows all around will show you how beautiful the city skyline truly is. Talk with the staff about how you want your evening to look and they will plan perfectly.

It’s no secret: Birthdays can be stressful. However, the city is full of great bars and venues to choose from, but this list will help you to narrow your options down. If you’re about to age another year, or your friend is turning the big dirty-30, check out these awesome places for the best birthday party in Philly! Let us know where you go.
