Last week, the Philly PR Girl team celebrated a wildly successful summer with a team outing hosted by Big Red Pedal Tours! You may have seen these 15-seat pedicycles coasting through the city before: music blaring, friends laughing and pedestrians snapping photos and staring. If you’re a passerby on your way home from work on a weekday, the bike seems rather eccentric and out of place, but if you’re on the tour, it is hilariously fun!

Our trip started with a pint at Brownie’s in Old City, an authentic Irish pub (complete with cash bar and smoking allowed inside). A few shots may have delayed our 8:00 p.m. start, but our guide Eleni kept us well on schedule for the rest of the bar crawl. The bikes are easy to get a hang of, and they move at a cool 10 mph so you’re doing more singing and sight-seeing than exercising. For our first leg of the tour, we pedaled from 2nd to 11th Street with country music radio blasting.

The next stop was The Irish Pub, followed by McGillin’s Olde Ale House, and we finished up at Bierstube back in Old City. Each location had a different beer special waiting for us. The two hour crawl allowed us a couple drinks at each location; and despite our late start, we never felt rushed when Eleni gave us our 5 minute departure warning.

Big Red Pedal Tours is fantastic way to spend an evening with friends, not to mention an off-the-wall option for pregaming on a Friday or Saturday night. Service was incredibly kind and professional, the bike ride and route were enjoyable, and the bars all attributed to a casual yet memorable night out. We can’t wait to go again!
