Forget about paying an arm and a leg for a parking garage. Don’t try to hail a cab in front of a crowded place. Definitely don’t find yourself walking down Walnut at 2 a.m. Philly has some great transportation options: some old and some new! This summer, focus on where you’re going and what you’re wearing – not how you’re going to get there!

SEPTA
SEPTA has finally answered our cries… 24-hour weekend service on the Broad Street and Market-Frankford Lines has arrived! And let’s just say people are a little excited:

After 23 years, Philly’s nightlife again warrants all-night subway service. Yay Philly! Yay @SEPTA! http://t.co/RhuDG6QIy7 @ccdphila — Karen Black (@KarenBlackMay8) June 6, 2014

all night SEPTA starting in less than 2 weeks, awwwwwww yeeahhhhhhhh — Jake Prein (@theonlyjprizzle) June 3, 2014

A short walk to Market or Broad Street will get you anywhere you need to be. Of course safety is at the forefront of everyone’s mind, but fear not; there will be police monitoring all stations. It’s crucial to remember that this is a pilot plan, so let’s be on best behavior so we can have nice things. The 24-hour weekend service is only promised until Labor Day Weekend. The more we use it, the more likely Philadelphia will support our 3 a.m. endeavors to get home! Download their app for on-the-go access.

Wheel Fun
Get moving this summer with Wheel Fun on Boathouse Row. Take a bike tour throughout Fairmont Park on your choice of their surreys, bikes and tandems. For our more adventurous Philly friends, you can rent a custom cycle to venture out on your own with free maps available. There are even educational segway tours offered!

Uber
This (hardly) old dog is already bringing some new tricks to the City of Brotherly Love. UberX is now available! This low-cost option has $3 base fare + $1 safety fee that makes convenient travel affordable. Even its older sibling UberBLACK has downed the base fare to $7. If you’re new to the game, Uber is an application made for smartphones that allows residents of 70+ major international cities to order cars to their front step in as little as 1 minute. Download the UberApp for safe rides at the tap of a finger.

Big Red Pedal Tours
Traveling with a big group shouldn’t mean booking 5 taxis that definitely won’t come at the same time.  Skip the hassle and try out one of the Big Red Pedal Tours’ pedicycles!  What’s a pedicycle, you say? We asked the same thing! A pedicycle is a 15-passenger bike that serves as your personally-powered, open tour bus around Philadelphia!  Visit all the historical sites of our beautiful city and get a great workout in at the same time.  Pedal around Philly for school trips, team-building activites, corporate retreats and even pub crawls!  Making traveling a blast with this fun, breezy activity.

Zipcar
Speaking of useful apps… Not everybody needs a car year-round, but in the summer it would sure be nice to have one to go down the shore, visit friends, or take a weekend trip to see the parents. Zipcar is there for you, but only when you need it. Simply sign up using the Zipcar app and your Zipcard will come in about a week. This card allows you to reserve any Zipcar in your area via the app for an allotted amount of time. With Zipcar, you can make sure Summer 2014 will be full of fun day trips and adventures.
