Monday, April 21st

  • FringeArts Artist & Venue Mixer – The annual Fringe Festival is open to all talent in Philadelphia looking to create, direct, choreograph or produce their own show. If you are registered or interested in registering, there will be a meet and greet for artists and local venue representatives. RSVP and get your business cards ready!
  • Everybody Ready 2.0 Handbook Training – Are you prepared for a public health emergency? This training course at the Parkway Central Library will provide a free workshop for individuals, families and caregivers that covers local resources, how to prepare, what to expect, and volunteer opportunities.

Tuesday, April 22nd

  • Al Dia Career Fair – AL DIA News Media is drawing a diverse crowd of forward-thinking companies and career-seeking individuals to the PA Convention Center from 10 am to 2 pm. See the full list of participating businesses, and register your name online here.
  • Philadelphia Arts Advocacy Day – In its first official year, help your community pack Council Chambers for a Budget Hearing Testimony! We’re vying to restore the Philadelphia Cultural Fund’s 2010 budget of $3.2 million for the arts and culture. Click here to RSVP, and be sure to sign the petition that will be delivered during the hearing and tweet your support with #RestoreArtsFundingPHL.

Wednesday, April 23rd

  • Philly Mash – Attend an evening of art and commerce with The Art Directors’ Club of Philadelphia. Hosted by Klip and Monogram, guests will enjoy cocktails from 6 to 7 pm, followed by a creative collaboration by founder and creative director Ricardo Rivera, President of The Wilson Concept Jaret WIlson, and photographer Scott Lewis. Tickets are $5-25.
  • Hidden Histories – Plan a visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Wednesday night from 5 to 8:45 pm and explore the museum’s medieval collection using a flashlight and your cell phone. Experience a soundscape by Philly artist Chris Havlish, “With Hidden Noise”, in the Medieval Cloister.

Thursday, April 24th

  • An Uncertain Glory: India and its Contradictions – Nobel Prize-winning economist Amartya Sen discusses India’s uncertain future despite rapid economic growth in promotion of his new book with longtime collaborator Jean Drèze. The lecture begins at 7:30 pm Tickets are $15 general admission and $7 for students.
  • The 2014 Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival Preview Party – Join Rittenhouse Row for the 2014 Spring Festival Preview Party, featuring cuisine from Rittenhouse Row’s best restaurants, cocktails from our best bartenders and a silent auction with Rittenhouse Row experiences and merchandise.
  • McFadden’s Mug Night Against Cancer – The Coeds Against Cancer help support the American Cancer Society

Friday, April 25th

  • Shen Yun – Shen Yun Performing Arts returns to the Merriam Theater with captivating storytelling that showcases ancient Chinese culture and dance with modern day musical scores and amazing handmade costumes. Digital art backdrops and a unique live orchestra will enhance the performance, taking place Friday through Sunday.
  • 2014 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship – The four-game championship tournament takes place on April 25th and 27th at PPL Park in Chester, PA. This will be the first under the new-look ACC with six teams in the league: Duke, Maryland, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse and Virginia. Tickets are $20 – 85 for both days.
  • Science Carnival After Hours – Kick off the 2014 Philadelphia Science Festival with special after-hours admission to The Franklin Institute. From 6:30 to 9:30 pm, view experiments and demonstrations, explore hands-on exhibits, talk technology and innovation, and relax with a cocktail and live performances. For 21+.

Saturday, April 26th

  • Flavors of the Avenue – The event is sold out but we hear there may be some tickets sold the day of – here’s why you should go!
  • The Philadelphia Antiques Show – Explore vintage antiques, home decor, works of art, and much more at the 2014 antique show! There will be guided show tours, a series of special events, and plenty of interesting furniture, textiles, jewelry, decorations and other finds dating from the Colonial through Mid-Century time periods to take home.
  • KIPP Philadelphia Schools’ 10th Anniversary Celebration – The Knowledge is Power Program celebrates 10 years of preparing students for college and building community leaders, both in the city of Philadelphia and across the nation. The night will be emceed by Eagles GM Howie Roseman, Grammy Award-winner Thelma Houston and the KIPP Band will perform, and The Garces Group will be catering the event with an open bar.

Sunday, April 27th

  • Mozart’s Don Giovanni – Opera Philadelphia performs the legendary story of Mozart’s mischievous masterpiece of mistaken identity, starring the dark scoundrel Don Juan in a comedy and tragedy of masquerades, trapdoors, and mirrored panels. Playing now through May 2nd at the Academy of Music.
  • Philly Run Wild – Participate in a 5k walk or run to Save the Orangutans at the Philadelphia Zoo. Register ahead of time for $35 or walk up at 7 am for $40 before the race begins at 8. Registration prices include admission to the zoo, a t-shirt and plenty of food and drink.
  • Taste of the Nation – Take a stance against childhood hunger by sampling a delicious array of top tier Philadelphia restaurants at Hotel Monaco. Chefs David Katz (Meme), Greg Vernick (Vernick) and mixologist Phoebe Esmon (Emannuelle) host the event, which runs from 6 to 9 pm with a VIP cocktail and auction hour beforehand.
