Date Spots for Valentine’s Day

Is there any better place to spend Valentine’s Day than in the City of Brotherly Love? After all, the word “love” itself is practically a Philadelphia trademark. We boast a handful of restaurants with stunningly picturesque views and romantic dining options; from Moshulu and Water Works to R2L and XIX. However, there’s also no shortage of cute, fun options for the most romantic day of the year. If you’re still clamboring for last-minute plans, let us give you a bit of inspiration!

Most of Philadelphia’s typically romantic restaurants may be fully booked, but you might try your luck at getting a table with a view of the stars. Head to the (heated) rooftops of Stratus Bar, Revolution House, or Continental Midtown for a moonlit affair that’s guaranteed to have you cuddling and cozying up to one another. The PHS Pop-Up Beer Garden on South Broad Street will be re-opening especially for Valentine’s Day weekend, so grab a beer and Garces bites with your sweetie in one of our favorite open spaces in the city!

If you’re committed to embracing the cold, purchase your tickets now for the Sweetheart Skate at the Blue Cross RiverRink, and warm up with a hot drink and apps at the Winterfest Lodge. Or walk the streets of Old City by candle and moonlight for a special Valentine’s Ghost Tour, which starts at the Powel House.

Get your fill of culture with a special late-night stroll through The Barnes Foundation, Philadelphia Museum of Art, or take in a show. Join the Philadelphia Orchestra in an evening of works by Rachmaninoff or Opera Philadelphia for their run of “Ainadamar”.

Heat things up with a little friendly competition during a game of bowling at North Bowl, classic arcade games at Barcade, board games at Raven Lounge, or skeeball at Garage – all equipped with a full bar. Enjoy the sweet croons of Sea Wolf and soulful Kwesi K at the World Cafe Live, or get your blood pumping with DJ Pink Skull’s late-night set at Johnny Brenda’s.

For a little more conversation, venture over to Chris’s Jazz Cafe during vocalist Meg Clifton’s set with her Quintet, or Emmanuelle for a cocktail expertly served in a bar with a speakeasy vibe. For a little more action, sing and dance out loud at Duel Piano Bar or enjoy a special “Dinner and a Show” at Fire & Ice, which includes a four-course meal.
