Restaurant Week Winter 2014

If you’ve vowed to get out and try new things in 2014, then Restaurant Week is the perfect time to test out some of Philadelphia’s finest restaurants. This Center City special has been growing and evolving over the years – some people think for the better, and some would disagree.  At Philly PR Girl, we are all about this campaign that promotes local business in our city (so try to avoid the chain restaurants).

Newly re-imagined Fork-sister, High Street on Market, is participating in Restaurant Week. We love the casual yet sophisticated atmosphere reminiscent of the late Fork, Etc. Its rustic charm carries over into their menu which features lots of seasonal vegetables, a classic roast pork, and handmade desserts.

Try something new while playing it safe by visiting the Iron Chef Garces’ new Cuban-style diner, Rosa Blanca.  Here you’ll find soups, croquetas, and flavorful meats plus sides. In classic Garces fashion, the space is fun and inviting (perfect for a trendy date).

If you’re looking for great seasonal flavors, look no further than Serrano in Old City. This is their first season participating in Restaurant Week, and we’re already big fans. They are offering a great selection of small bites including crispy goat cheese and jalapeño hummus, their famous meatloaf, and a rich array of desserts.

In Center City crowded of Italian restaurants, fusion concepts, or salad/soup chicken/steak options, Bistrot La Minette is a refreshing breath of air. Per classic French cuisine, you can expect to find escargots, terrine de foie gras, boeuf bourguignon, et mille feuille aux framboises.

For all the Asian fusion lovers, be sure to check out Bar-Ly Chinatown for a laid-back atmosphere with a surprisingly impressive menu. Tucked away in the outskirts of the neighborhood, this is a fun place that is great for groups. Bonus: they have over 60 beers on tap!

We’ve been dying to try some authentic Indian food, so our pick this season is Tashan, who has an inventive menu with plenty of options. Some items that stand out are panko-crusted potato “lollipops,” 21-spice pork tenderloin, and Wagyu beef.

Remember, reservations are highly recommended if you’re planning to go out during this two-week time frame. Tweet us where you’ll be heading and show us pictures on Instagram!  For more information visit:  http://www.centercityphila.org/life/RestaurantWeek.php.
