Here’s whats going on in Philly this week!

Monday, November 18th

  •  SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque Show – Inked Magazine presents the SuicideGirls in their first US tour breaking a 6-year hiatus. Seven of the group’s most talented girls will be performing choreography complete with tongue-in-cheek humor, poking fun at Kill Bill, Game of Thrones, The Big Lebowski, Doctor Who, and more, at the TLA at 9 pm.
  •  Funny Females – Start your week right with a night of all women stand-up comedy at Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar, starring Caitlin Feeney, Natalie Levant, Shannon Dapper, and Mary Radzinski, with hosts Phyllis Voren and Rachel Fogletto. Show starts at 8:30 pm, for 21+.

Tuesday, November 19th

  •  Anniversary of the Gettysburg Address – The National Constitution Center reflects and commemorates the history and impact of President Abraham Lincoln’s famous speech, delivered November 19, 1863. Visitors can explore the Civil War experience in the museum’s main exhibition, newly expanded, and interact with artifacts from the time period. There will be a reading of the Gettysburg Address and an examination of its legacy with scholars.
  •  Flashdance The Musical – America’s beloved pop culture phenomenon celebrates its 30th anniversary on stage at the Academy of Music from November 19th through 24th. Flashdance tells the story of Pittsburgh steel mill worker Alex Owens, a bar dancer by night with dreams of becoming a professional performer, who becomes romantically involved with her steel mill boss. Tickets range from $20-100.

Wednesday, November 20th

  •  Dine to Donate – The Iron Hill Brewery in Maple Shade, NJ will donate 20% of your food bill (excluding alcoholic beverages) to The Animal Orphanage. Print out the coupon online and present it to your waiter.
  •  BalletX Fall Series – The Wilma Theater’s in-house contemporary dance company displays its seasonal 3-show series from November 20-23. Each performance is a world premiere: If the heart runs, by Adam Barruch, HeedfulNeedful by Gabrielle Lamb, and There I was by Matthew Neenan, the Co-Artistic Director of BalletX. Tickets are $35 general admission and $22 for students.
  • Sleigh Bells at UT – Rhythmic and sugary pop artists Sleigh Bells are performing at Union Transfer for a 10 pm show with opening band The Doldrums. Tickets are $20-22.

Thursday, November 21st

  •  Pints for North Light – “The Coolest Fundraising Event Ever to Benefit the Kids” is a beer tasting and food sampling event with silent auction, held at The River Club Manayunk Brewery Restaurant. All three ticket levels get you a complimentary pint glass, food, and suds from sponsors Victory Brewing Company, Troegs, Triumph Brewery, Tamanend Winery, and more. The event takes place from 7 to 10:30 pm, and doors open an hour earlier for VIP ticket holders.
  •  Robert Randolph & The Family Band – Kuf Knotz is opening for steel guitar virtuoso Robert Randolph at the Ardmore Music Hall. Tickets are $32 to 52, and the show starts at 8 pm.

Friday, November 22nd

  •  “Rockatis” Premiere – P.C.R.M. Products is hosting a debut screening of the short film “Rockatis” at Painted Bride Art Center, followed by a Q&A panel with the cast and director. The story follows the struggle of Peter Bernardi, who can’t seem to shake his childhood imaginary friend, Rockatis. Doors open at 8 pm with a cocktail hour sponsored by Marmont Steakhouse. Tickets are $10 pre-sale or at the door.
  •  Léger: Modern Art and the Metropolis – The Philadelphia Museum of Art is exhibiting the work of modernist Fernand Léger, known from his cubism and bold use of colors, portraits, and cityscapes. Alongside his paintings, the museum will host film projections, theater designs, architectural models, and print and advertising designs by the artist and his contemporaries. The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 to 5 pm.
  • Loud! Fast! Philly! a Visual History of Philly Hardcore Punk – After selling out two screenings at this year’s Cinedelphia Film Festival, the movie returns for a showing at PhilaMOCA at 7:30 pm. Explore Philadelphia’s underground punk scene with rare footage of local bands playing in DIY venues throughout the city, from the 80’s until now.

Saturday, November 23rd

  • Pop Up Food Court at the American Dreaming Building (2pm – 6pm)
  • Urban Defense Center Health Fair – The Urban Defense Center at 725 N. 6th Street is hosting a free health fair from 11 am through 4 pm. Expand your knowledge of self defense and safety to personal health, cleansing, fitness, and holistic services such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, and more.
  •  Winter Beer Fest – Over 100 beers will be on tap at the 23rd Street Armory for this year’s Winter Beer Fest, featuring craft beers, spiced ales, double and triple IPAs, Imperial stouts, ciders, and more. Food trucks will be on location for snacking! Get your tickets here.
  •  India.Aire at the Keswick Theatre – The 4-time Grammy Award-winning songstress is back in promotion of her new album, SongVersation. Tickets are sold at $36, 46 and $60.

Sunday, November 24th

  •  Jeff Dunham – America’s favorite ventriloquist is taking his tour, “Disorderly Conduct”, to Trenton’s Sun National Bank Center. Expect fresh content and more laughs than ever before! Tickets are $45.50, and doors open at 2 pm.
  •  Baby Loves Disco – The city’s most popular family dance party returns to the World Café Live from 11 to 2:30 pm. Don your disco shoes for entertainment with a real DJ and MC, including freeze dance and Simon says. Get your face painted, make a sock puppet, get a tattoo and enjoy snacks, juice boxes, and a cash bar. Tickets are $12 per person.
