As I walked towards our secret location there was a huge sense of camaraderie amongst the sea of white-clad people. Every passerby stopped to ask, “What the heck is going on in this city!?”  1,300 people, carrying picnic supplies, walked to the location of Dîner en Blanc, Logan Square!   My first thought was how are 1,300 people going to fit in Logan Square?  But it worked out quite nicely and it didn’t feel crammed at all.  It was the perfect location with the fountain and city hall in the background.   This global event started in Paris and it’s hard to beat the backdrop there but I truly believe our pictures are just as iconic as an other cities Dîner en Blanc.

By 7:30 dinner officially commenced, signaled by the signature waving of white napkins.   I was amazed by the amount of work people put into their tables. There were amazing centerpieces, beautiful flowers, and even fabric chair covers. Popular picnic food choices were in true French fashion including fruits, salads, cheese, and baguettes.

By 9PM, the sparklers were lit and the dancing began! It wasn’t long before people jumped into Swann Memorial Fountain. After a couple hours, it was off to the after party!  A large part of the gang migrated to The Sofitel on 17th and Sansom to keep the party going.   If you missed out on the action because you didn’t know about it why aren’t you subscribed to my blog yet…I wrote about it in June!  But don’t worry I have a feeling it will be back next year.  It was truly a magical evening and I was glad to be a part of it!
