What’s Happening This Week in Philly…
Monday, November 9
- If you know you have artistic talent, why not show it off? Philly Rising Open Mic Night at World Cafe Live is an open mic night to compete for a prize of recording your own demo. You can sing or do a comedy stand up act. Come to watch or compete! Can register online or at the show! Registration starts at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday November 10
- The Taste of Philly is back with its 9th Annual Culinary Tasting Experience! You can sample food, beer, and liquor from the cities best restaurants and breweries! And, we can’t forget, there will be live entertainment! Make sure to get your tickets. Event takes place at the Crystal Tea room starting at 6:00 p.m.
- The Flyers take on the Colorado Avalanche at the Wells Fargo Center! Come on out to support the orange and black!
- The Kimmel Center will host its 2015 Marian Anderson Award Gala. They are honoring legendary jazz artist Wynton Marsalis. The night will be hosted by Emmy-winning television journalist Soledad O’Brien. It will be a night full of fun, jazz, and other award-winning artists!
- AWOLNATION, the popular electronic rock bad is coming to the Fillmore. Their famous song Sail really put them on the map and we can’t wait for what will be a great performance.
Wednesday November 11
- Natalie Prass is coming to the World Cafe Live. If you don’t know who she is, you might want to find out! She is one of Rolling Stone’s “Ten New Artists You Need To Know,” and one of Time Magazine’s “15 Artists To Watch in 2015.” Get tickets here!
Thursday November 12
- If you are a wine connoisseur, you will love this event. Chloe Johnston is hosting a Regions of France Wine Tasting event at the Union League in Center City Philadelphia. They are bringing the legendary coupling of regional French wines and cheeses together for a sommelier-led tasting event. Featuring Senior Wine Advisor at Wine Spectrum, Bret Barrett, they will bring you the best wines and champagnes of the season.
- If you are an old school rock fan, then you are going to love this event. Don Henley of The Eagles is coming to the Academy of Music! Even though the band broke up in 1982, Henley kept at making music and he is still rocking even to this day. Get tickets here!
Friday, November 13
- The Adult Congenital Heart Association’s Young Professionals Committee is hosting a night of drinks, food, and fun to support their association! It will take place at the Yards Brewery from 7:30-10:30 p.m. To get tickets, purchase them here.
- JD McGillicuddy’s in Manayunk is throwing a Free Open Bar Party! This includes free beer, games, and prizes. However, you must RSVP to get this free bar which can be done online with the link above.
- The Rothman Ice Rink at Dilworth Park returns for the 2015-16 winter season! It will re-open today and we absolutely can not wait! Nothing like ice skating to get excited for the holidays!
Saturday, November 14
- Hop aboard the Craft Beer Express! From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., this neighborhood crawl buses participants from bar to bar throughout the city all day long. Buses will run every 25 minutes between all participating bars so guests can move at their own pace. For a list of participating bars, check out their website.
- The Langhorne Veterans 5k is a fun local 5k race or 1 mile fun run/walk through the neighborhood of Langhorne Borough. Proceeds benefit Operation Comfort Warriors. Operation Comfort Warriors is a program dedicated to meeting the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel by providing them with comfort items not usually supplied by the government.
Sunday, November 15
- Here is an event that is just a tad different than you are probably used to! Its called Drinking Liberally. Discuss politics with others over coffee/tea at InFusion Coffee & Tea in Germantown! You have an opinion? Care about what’s going on, but no one wants to talk about it? At this event, you can talk with others about issues in our country and connect to work together.
