The beginning of October means that fall sports are in full force. Catch the Sixers and Eagles at home games this week, as well as opening night of the Flyers season. Don’t miss foodie events like the last of CCD Restaurant Week, Food Trust’s Night Market, and Midtown Fall Festival. Tag your events out and about with #ThisWeekInPhilly.

Monday, October 1st
Tuesday, October 2nd
  • Grab some friends and catch Walnut Street Theatre’s Holiday Inn Tuesday night at 8pm. This musical is one of the theater’s largest productions. The old-fashioned fun show features 20 songs inspired by the classic film starring Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire.  
  • Get in the Halloween spirit with bone-chilling tales from beyond the grave on a candlelight Ghost Tour of Old City and Society Hill. Tours depart nightly the entire month from Signers’ Garden, 5th and Chestnut Streets from 7:30-9:00pm.
Wednesday, October 3rd
  • Sip while you sketch with local artists the first Wednesday of each month this fall at Drink & Draw held at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Materials provided and all levels welcome.
  • Come join Le Cat Cafe for Whisker Wednesday Happy Hour every Wednesday 4-7pm. Enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer, cool off and play with some cute, cuddly cats!
Thursday, October 4th
  • Right in the heart of the historic West Fairmount Park, thousands of hand carved jack o’ lanterns will light up the city this fall. Bring your family to this enchanting fall wonderland. The GLOW: Philadelphia is fun for all ages!
  • The Food Trust’s popular Night Market is back in Point Breeze. As always, expect all the best food trucks, live entertainment, and much more. Plus, don’t miss off-the-menu dishes from Cafe Ynez, Tu’s Tea & Banh Mi and more in partnership with Caviar.
  • Bottle Room in Downington are celebrating the Flyers Opening Night versus the Las Vegas Golden Knights. Stay up late, cheer on our team, and enjoy a $4 special on Tired Hands’ HopHands for the whole game.
Friday, October 5th
  • Join us monthly for our First Friday event: The Cosign, presented by nicethingsMUSIC. Every month will be hosted by Chill Moody,* with DJ Hank McCoy keeping the party rocking from 10pm-2am.
  • Come to 23rd Street Armory’s 3rd annual Oktoberfest, hosted by Brauhaus Schmitz and Upcoming Events. The event will include authentic decor imported from Germany, traditional food, beer and performances.
Saturday, October 6th
  • Experience a variety of activities at Midtown Village Fall Festival including multiple stages of live entertainment, delicious food, and beverage samplings. There’s also lots of merchant and vendor displays, crafters, children’s activities, and more on Broad St. to 11th St. and Market St. to Spruce St.
  • One of our favorite animal non-profit events is PAWS’ Annual Mutt Strut. In its twelfth year, this is a must-attend fall festival for dogs and the people who love them. After the walk, all guests can enjoy live music, food trucks, costume and talent contests, pet photo booth, agility course, paws print painting, a raffle with great prizes, and much more!  
  • Morgan’s Pier hosts Oktoberfest along the Delaware River from 2-6pm. Tickets provide access to 4 hours of an open beer bar, unlimited soft pretzels, live music, pumpkin carving, and more! Plus, the first 200 guests will receive a limited edition Morgan’s Pier beer stein!
  • Meet Mary Dixon Lebeau, author of Secret Philadelphia: A Guide to the Weird, Wonderful, and Obscure. Her book signing is at the Collingswood Book Festival right over the bridge.
Sunday, October 7th
  • The Birds take on their NFC Championship opponents, the Minnesota Vikings, at Lincoln Financial Field. The game starts at 4:25pm.
  • Save the date for the Philadelphia Out of The Darkness Community Walk starting at the Philadelphia Museum of Art at 6:30am. We anticipate over 8,000 walkers at the event to help us stop suicide and destigmatize mental illness.
  • Don’t miss the world’s largest National Coming Out Day festival, Outfest. The block party — spanning a dozen full blocks — consists of drag shows, games, bar crawls, music and shopping.
