Monday, January 8

  • Who doesn’t love BYOs in Philly? Luckily for you, Kensington Quarters is now waiving their corkage fee on Monday nights! Enjoy a meal with locally-sourced meats and your own choice of wine.
  • Learn more about of the year’s hottest topics: digital currency. The Union League hosts an Intro to Bitcoin, Digital Assets, and Initial Coin Offerings. This discussion will inform you of all the basics with Shibumi Crypto Capital’s Digital Asset Fund manager, Zorie Barber, and special guest Jon Fox of fr8.network.

Tuesday, January 9

  • If you were a big Sailor Moon fan, then The Fire’s Cosplay Dance Party is for you. This NoLibs party will have a DJ, live saxophone artist, giveaway raffles, and much more. Tickets are $8 for the night, which starts at 7:30 p.m.
  • Geek out at the Makers Meetup at University City Science Center. The program includes four great local makers: Annee London, Augean Robotics, Lightning Packs, and Tozuda. From sporting gear to robotic inventions, the evening starts with networking (including gourmet pizza) at 5 p.m.

Wednesday, January 10

  • Her Corner is community for women who are serious about their businesses. They invite you to sit down and have coffee, on them, with like-minded women to looking build their empire. Join them at Le Pain Quotidien in Center City from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m.
  • Evil Genius Beer Company presents Secret Lair Burlesque with some of the alluring entertainers, including resident performer Miss V. Admission is free. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show is at 8:30 p.m.
  • Need some personalized help kick starting your new year’s resolutions? Whole Foods Market in Wynnewood is offering personal tours with a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist from OnPoint Nutrition. They’ll go through the store to explain and discuss must-have foods of 2018.

Thursday, January 11

  • Let’s Cultivate Food presents Sake To Me, a premier cooking class about sushi and sake pairing. Roll up your sleeves to learn how to prepare miso soup, fresh sushi rolls, and even how to pickle your own ginger.
  • If you’re a big beer connoisseur, join the International Society of Pharmaceutical Engineers for Quality and Consistency in the Brewing Industry at Yards Brewing. Learn how manufacturers are using technology to adjust to customers’ growing demands of a consistent taste profile in beer.

Friday, January 12

  • The Philly Home Show is back! See TV personalities and celebrities such as Tyler Wisler, international interior designer and contestant on HGTV Design Star, and Kevin O’Connor, host of the legendary PBS show This Old House. New exhibits include how to design for small spaces and mastering feng shui. Save $3 by buying online or visit dozens of local retailers throughout the area to purchase tickets.
  • Visit Counter Culture Coffee’s Philadelphia Training Center to taste featured coffee(s) to and a complementary brewing method. Participants are guided through the free tasting and learn details about where the coffee comes from and why the shop loves it.
  • Join RevCowork for their #HungryHustlers lunch series, a weekly pop-up networking event for local professionals. This week, the co-working space is hosting at Han Dynasty in Cherry Hill at 12:30 p.m.
  • Concierge Ballroom presents body party // a dance revue at L’Etage. See the amazing talents of several of Philadelphia’s premiere partnership-based dancers.

Saturday, January 13

  • This is it! The Philadelphia Eagles have made it to the NFL playoffs as the #1 seed. Cheer them on all the way as they play the Atlanta Falcons at home.
  • Everyone’s favorite Aussie wine is coming to town with the Philadelphia #yellowtailgate. Visit yellowtail’s festive food truck is filled with delicious wines and savory recipes curated by celebrity chef Jeff Mauro, host of Food Network’s Sandwich King.
  • Have your cake and eat it too! Try a Cake Tasting Plate for two at Cake Life Bake Shop during Second Saturday afternoons. This BYOB event is a perfect winter date or girls day out.

Sunday, January 14

  • Eastern State Penitentiary commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. throughout the weekend. Hear special readings of his letters and speeches from professional actors, youth readers, and community leaders. The readings are free, open to the public, and there are no reservations required.
  • The Rock & Roll Playhouse presents classic rock music and pairs it with fun games, movement, and stories for kids. Expect jams from The Beatles this week  at Ardmore Music Hall with The Grateful Dead and Phish in coming weeks.
