Start this week by registering for an event to honor the heroes who sacrificed their lives on 9/11. There’s no lack of events throughout the week with many arts and cultural festivals. Global Philly* also begins this week and lasts 45 whole days! Tag your events out and about in Philadelphia with #ThisWeekinPhilly.

Monday, September 11

  • Remember 9/11 by registering for the 1st annual Philadelphia 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb and 5K Walk. The event takes place on September 23.
  • Don’t miss your chance to see Lady Gaga perform live at the Wells Fargo Center! Put on your Poker Face and Just Dance along with the popular singer. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, September 12

  • Take a break in your day and stop by Optimal Sport 1315* for one their newer classes! Cardio Kickboxing with Guy Nanni “kicks” off at 12 p.m.
  • Spend the afternoon exploring Michael Nichols exhibit at The Philadelphia Museum of Art. “Wild” is counting down it’s final days in the museum so head on over to witness the legendary photographer’s work.  

Wednesday, September 13

  • American Me Comedy is back. Laugh until your stomach hurts as Jason Rogers along with other stand-up comedians take over the Punchline stage. Grab a few drinks at the CallBack bar before the show starts at 8 p.m.
  • Take your lunch break at the Dilworth Park Cafe while watching this week’s Live @ Lunch performer! Matt Santry is set to go on around 12 p.m.

Thursday, September 14

  • From 5 to 10 p.m., stop by the Manayunk StrEAT Food Festival. Eat from any of the 50+ Philly food trucks while shopping at local Main Street businesses.
  • Opera Philadelphia hosts the O17 Festival with twelve days of events across the city. Many are sold out but snag tickets while you can to the Preview Performance of War Stories and the World Premiere of Elizabeth Cree.
  • The Philadelphia Asian-American Film Festival presents the Asian Chef Experience. Taste diverse foods created by more than 10 of Philly’s top Asian-American and Pacific Islander chefs.
  • Learn how to “Become a connector, not a collector” with Nancy Dunleavy as she speaks out about networking. The Power of Professional WoMen is hosting the speaker at the Union League of Philadelphia at 11 a.m.

Friday, September 15

  • It’s the first day of Global Philly 2017! This year’s 45 days of events starts with exclusive East Coast appearance of The Magic Flute. This live-action, Mozart-based comedy is a fun cultural experience for the whole family to enjoy.
  • Attention: middle schoolers and parents! Visit the free Philly High School Fair at Pennsylvania Convention Center to calm new school nerves. Learn from representatives about the different high schools in the Philadelphia area.
  • Get ready for the grand opening of SPiN! This new ping pong social club is making its debut in Philadelphia with a huge party, hosted by Robert Covington of the 76ers.  
  • Step into a transformed La Peg for the 21st Fringe Festival’s Get Pegged Cabaret, free during the festival. This edition is hosted and curated by John Jarboe of The Bearded Ladies Cabaret and features German author-turned-actor Dieter Rita Scholl.

Saturday, September 16

  • Head over to South Street West for the Philadelphia United Jazz Festival. Fill your ears with a variety of jazz performers starting at 12 p.m.
  • The Pentimenti Gallery is celebrating 25 years in the best way, with a cocktail reception! From 8 p.m to 9:30 p.m walk around the gallery while sipping and mingling.  
  • Catch Chill Moody’s* performance at Health Partners’ Plans Health and Music Festival! This year’s theme is “Finding the ‘U’ in Unity,” and thousands are expected to attend.
  • Philadelphia Zoo introduces its first-ever OktoBEARfest! This fall festival will feature more than 100 beers to taste in a special souvenir tasting cup, plus evening admission to the zoo.
  • Philly AIDS Thrift is celebrating their 12th anniversary and $2 million milestone with an a South Philly block party! Enjoy food trucks, carnival games, live music and much more.

Sunday, September 17

  • Take the time and spend your morning focusing on you with a guided hike and meditation. The 3-mile hike begins 10 a.m. Then, local yoga teacher and personal coach, Nicole Taylor of Evolve Philadelphia will lead the meditation.  
  • Feria del Barrio is providing live Latin music along with dozens of food vendors at the arts and culture festival. Activities and crafts will also be set up to keep the little ones entertained.
