My Perfect Day in Philadelphia: Jess’s Guide

Jessica Dugan, PR Assistant:

I was born and raised in Chester County, PA. Currently, I’m a junior at the University of Richmond studying marketing and journalism. I’ve always looked forward to spending a day in the city with friends or family, but it wasn’t until I moved away to VA that I really missed being close to such a fun metropolitan area. I jumped on the opportunity to intern with Philly PR Girl, not only to dive deeper into the field of public relations, but to experience the city of Philadelphia as a working girl!

First, We Brunch

My perfect day in Philly would start with coffee and brunch, of course! You’ll most likely find me in a cute coffee shop like Talula’s Daily. I can’t start my day without coffee and nothing beats a cup of La Colombe coffee. You can’t pass up their cases of delicious pastries. If the weather’s good enough, you can grab a table outside for some awesome people watching.

Sightseeing

Philadelphia has so much to offer, and one of my favorite ways to see it all it is by bike. Whether it’s renting Indego bikes to take me from place to place or a leisurely ride along the Schuylkill River, I can’t think of a better way of experiencing the city. Make sure to stop at the Art Museum. Another one of my favorite things is Reading Terminal Market. A perfect day in Philly would include a quick stop to pick famous Termini Bros. cannolis for a sweet treat.

Rittenhouse Square

You can’t beat shopping in the Center City! Popping into the amazing shops around Rittenhouse Square is a must-do when you’re in the city for the day. The four-story Anthropologie is my weak spot. I like to refuel from an afternoon of shopping with (another) latte from the La Colombe around the corner. Then, I’d spend the afternoon walking around Rittenhouse Square Park.

City Dining

There are so many dinner options in city it’s hard to go wrong! Some of my favorites are Continental Midtown, Zahav, White Dog Cafe, and Talula’s Garden.

Thanks for following along with me for my perfect day in Philadelphia! These are just a few of my favorite things to do in my favorite city, but the list goes on. I’m grateful for the opportunity to experience the city like a local this summer. I’m excited to finish the summer here and cross more things off my list.
