My Perfect Day in Philadelphia: Liz’s Guide

Liz Reilley, PR Assistant:

I grew up in the PA suburbs of Horsham, commonly referred to as “40 minutes outside of Philly.” Now, I attend West Chester University, where I am a rising senior. Besides coming into the city for the occasional concert or visiting friends, I had never fully experienced all that Philadelphia has to offer. Working at Philly PR Girl has completely changed my perspective of the city life! Now, I question why I hadn’t ventured out of the suburbs sooner…

La Colombe Cafe

My perfect day in Philly would begin with an iced coffee. La Colombe at Penn Square is a cool space with really unique options for coffee. After I get my coffee, I like to walk down to Dilworth Park before I start my day.

Shopping on Walnut Street

Then, I’d spend the majority of my day shopping! I love shopping in the city because I can hit multiple stores without being stuck inside of a mall. All of my favorite stores are so close to each other. In addition to mainstream chains like Urban Outfitters and Free People, there are also tons of smaller boutiques like DFTI, Verde, and Open House that never disappoint.

Spruce Street Harbor Park

This would be a great place to relax after a long morning of shopping. I love sitting in the brightly colored hammocks underneath the lights that hang from all of the trees. Or I might take a nice walk along the water on the boardwalk. Of course I wouldn’t forget to grab an amazing fried chicken sandwich from Federal Donuts while I’m there!

Midtown Village

Afterwards, I would make my way back to 13th Street for the incredible happy hour specials at Sampan and Graffiti Bar. If you’re feeling particularly thirsty, I highly suggest ordering a giant fishbowl at Graffiti Bar. In addition to delicious cocktails, Sampan’s Kimchee Fried Rice is to die for!

Independence Beer Garden

To wrap up my perfect day, I would spend the rest of the night at IBG’s huge outdoor venue. I love the decor and pretty string lights all around. This is the perfect place to spend a summer night playing games like corn hole and Jenga with friends and family.

Philadelphia is a beautiful city with so much to do in every neighborhood. I can’t wait to spend the rest of my summer trying new places and finding my way around the city! Follow the rest of my city adventures this summer on  Instagram!
