Best Food Deals During Sips

Alas, Center City Sips is upon us. All summer long, the people of Philadelphia will become a little less productive on Thursdays. From June 6 until August 30, participating bars and restaurants will offer the same great deals every Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. Throughout Center City, enjoy $5 cocktails, $4 wine, $3 beer and half-priced appetizers. While the drink specials are certainly a highlight, there’s also plenty of good grub happening. Here are some of the best food deals during Sips.

Misconduct

For delicious bar snacks (think deep-fried goodness), visit Misconduct Tavern. At both locations, they’ll have $3.50 cheesesteak empanadas, $3.50 cheese fries with house-cured bacon, and $3 beer-battered onion rings with house-made peppercorn ranch dressing.

Nomad

Save on Roman-Style thin-crust pizza at Nomad’s 13th and Locust location. All personal 10″ pies will only set you back $5-7. Authentic Italian toppings vary from standard margherita to spicy soppressata, nduja sausage, Castelvetrano olives, and truffle pecorino.

Yakitori Boy

Escape the normal bar bites by heading to Yakitori Boy.* During Sips, they’ll have great deals on exciting Asian appetizers. Try the $5 tartare bites with a mix of tuna, yellowtail and salmon or the $4 surf-and-turf yakitori skewers with shrimp, ribeye and chicken. For a fun twist on a classic, get crispy chicken wings in a spicy chili sauce for only $4.

Opa

Greek favorites at Opa in Midtown Village are some of the best in the city. Specials include marinated pork or chicken souvlakia for $4.50, beef meatballs with herbed tzatziki for $5, and handcut fries for $3.

Indeblue

Explore modern Indian cuisine at Indeblue. The elevated dishes include vegetarian plates such as stuffed long hot peppers ($3), samosas with mint chutney ($3), crispy spinach chaat with sweet yogurt ($4), and crispy cauliflower ($5). Non-vegetarians can dig into the insanely flavorful Drums of Heaven chicken wings ($4).

Max Brenner

For something sweet, Max Brenner’s Sips special includes a half-off discount on their BYO (build your own) ice cream sundae ($5). Other offers include cocoa-spiced waffle fries and creamy spinach artichoke dip with chili-dusted chips.

No matter what type of happy hour you’re looking for, there’s sure to be a Center City Sips party that’s right for you. As always, remember to tip your waiters and bartenders! It’s going to be packed, but they do their best to make sure everyone has fun.
