The Winners of MANNA’s Guac Off 2017

Last night, Metropolitan Area Neighborhood Nutrition Alliance (MANNA) held their annual Guac Off at Morgan’s Pier. The event was hosted by the one and only Brittany Lynn. More than 10 of Philadelphia’s go-to-guac restaurants competed to be named this year’s Guac Masters, including Cantina Dos Segundos, Los Camaradas, Revolution Taco, Tio Flores, and many more.

Judges made their way around the competition to choose the winner of the Judges’ Choice award. This year’s judges included:

  • Alex Holley, Fox29
  • Philadelphia Eagles, Jalen Mills and David Watford
  • MANNA’s own Chef Eric Gantz
  • Ian Hussey, Pennsylvania Ballet
  • Roberto Pipito, Homemade Delish

Attendees enjoyed a spring evening along the riverfront to help support MANNA’s mission to prepare and deliver meals to individuals battling life-threatening illnesses. Guac lovers paired their samples with chips donated by Whole Foods Market, Victory beer, and Tito’s cocktails. In addition to the food, drink and entertainment, there was a fun fiesta-themed photo booth by Shutterbooth.

While each competitor put their heart (and best ingredients) into their guac, there could only be one winner. With a new chef this year, Square 1682 remains the reigning champion for the Judges’ Choice winner! The People’s Choice winner, Paladar KOP, was also named a 2017 Guac Master! Congratulations to all the competitors this year and of course winners. We can’t wait to dive into these award-winning guacamoles with lots of margaritas all summer long!
