Philly is full of life this week! The Philly PHLASH Downtown Loop daily service returns for the spring/summer. Philly Tech Week continues to inspire innovation. And cheers to the weekend; Friday is Cinco De Mayo! Tag your events out and about the city with #ThisWeekinPhilly.

Monday, May 1

  • Explore Philadelphia with the Philly PHLASH’s daily service, which has returned until September 4. The loops make 22 convenient stops around the city.
  • Is your summer bod not quite ready? Join Yelp’s month-long Fit Club promotion. Yelp has partnered with local businesses to help Philadelphians get fit. Body Cycle Studio will be having a free cycling class at 4:00 p.m. Registration is required.

Tuesday, May 2

  • Philadelphia’s innovation is unstoppable as Philly Tech Week continues. Interested in exploring digital space? #PTW17 event “The Future of Digital Marketing” will meet any social media need and prepare you for the future of our digital world.
  • Learn about the history of the K&A Gang, a local Kensington group who traveled from Bar Harbor to Boca Raton breaking into upscale homes. Two former gang members will join author Allen Hornblum recounting their times at Eastern State Penitentiary.

Wednesday, May 3

  • Get exclusive access to two Philadelphia legends, Mayors Edward Rendell and Michael Nutter. A Tale of Two Mayors interview, led by Drexel Pennoni Honors College Dean Paula Marantz Cohen, Ph.D., will focus on the past, present and future of our city.
  • As part of Philly Tech Week, Philly HUG is a meetup designed to help sales and marketing professionals invest better and crush the competition.

Thursday, May 4

  • Plan a date night at Chaddsford Winery exploring a selection of local wines. The Vintner’s Table is a seasonally-inspired five course meal experience. Everyone is welcome from rookies to connoisseurs.
  • See one of Philadelphia’s favorite ballet performances, BalletX’s Spring Series 2017 in its last week. The show features a U.S. premiere from Barcelonian choreographer, Cayetano Soto, plus dances from choreographers Matthew Neenan and Tommie-Waheed Evans.
  • Jill Weber, owner of JET Wine Bar and archeologist, will be hosting a tour of Greece private wine tasting. Indulge with three hand-picked Greek wines and plan your next trip to the Mediterranean.

Friday, May 5

  • Join the Cinco De Mayo Bar Crawl with more than 10 participating Old City-area bars. Grab a sombrero and enjoy specials on tequila shots, margaritas, tacos, and mexican beers!
  • The boys return home this weekend to play the Washington Nationals. The Philadelphia Phillies are celebrating two themes this night, as well. Teacher Appreciation Week and National Nurses Week will honor these everyday heroes with special discount off select tickets.
  • It’s time for Philadelphia magazine’s Wine Festival. Allow your taste buds to take a trip around the world with over 500 samples of exclusive wines.
  • Celebrate First Friday in Midtown Village with a Cinco De Mayo themed evening at Gallery Carré d’artistes Philadelphia*! Browse the gallery’s unique art while enjoying tunes from a Latin jazz band from 5 to 9 p.m. It’s the perfect start to a Cinco De Mayo happy in Midtown Village!

Saturday, May 6

  • The city’s largest block party is back! South Street Spring Festival is an all-day party for all ages. On the 700 block, Brauhaus Schmitz will host their annual Maifest with German beers, food, and entertainment. Hang out until the sun sets then join the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the TLA, hosted by DJ Robert Drake.
  • Celebrate the start of Triple Crown races at the 5th Annual Kentucky Derby Party at West Laurel Hill.* Festivities include watching the race on a big screen while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, live music, horse and carriage rides, fashion illustrations by Denise Fike, and more!
  • Ales, Lagers, Porters, stouts, and ciders… take your pick or try them all! The 7th Annual Greater Northeast Philadelphia Beer Festival has selected locally brewed craft beers from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Delaware, and Maryland.

Sunday, May 7

  • Runners, make your mark! The Broad Street Run is a 10 mile point-to-point course. Spectators are encouraged to cheer on the runners of this amazing race, that is the largest one in America.
  • Catch Koresh Dance Company’s “Sense of Human” at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. In musical collaboration with great artists, the work explores the perception of reality, self-discovery, and more. On closing night, enjoy a celebratory reception with drinks and fashions by the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, Wild Mantle, and Naveda Couture.
  • So you think you can dance? Rumbero Entertainment presents, “Stadium Salsa Sundays,” the ultimate salsa social. There’s no better way to end to Cinco De Mayo weekend.
