Dining Spotlight: Fogo de Chão

When many people think of Fogo de Chão, an all-you-can-eat parade of protein immediately pops into mind. It’s often associated with servers in gauchos and leaving dinner feeling very satisfied but very full. Though, there’s more to the Brazilian churrascaria steakhouse than meets the eye. Committed to providing something for everyone, Fogo de Chão’s menu is budding with changes for spring.

Located in the heart of Midtown Village on 13th and Chestnut Streets, Fogo de Chão is a perfect meeting place, especially for happy hour. Start with infamous caipirinhas, a Brazilian specialty cocktail made with cachaça, a sugar cane spirit. New to the warm-weather menu are the Mango Habanero and low-calorie Strawberry Hibiscus flavors. For those with a real sweet tooth, try the Mango Ginger martini. With an abundance of fresh fruit on display, these drinks are guaranteed to be refreshing. Happy hour specials occur Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. with $4 beers and Brazilian bites, $6 South American wines, and $8 Brazilian-inspired cocktails.

Aides from cocktails, the bar boasts amazing appetizers and small plates to enjoy in its sophisticated ambiance. Be sure to order traditional Brazilian fare, such as the crispy empanadas stuffed with picanha (ground sirloin) served with a chimichurri aioli. Two delicious types of sliders are new additions to Fogo de Chão’s bar menu: braised short rib and marinated chicken. If it’s seafood you’re looking for, don’t miss the garlic shrimp sautéed in garlic butter and accompanied by a tangy passion fruit sauce.

For those who aren’t prepared for an endless meat lunch, Fogo de Chão has included lighter daytime options that start at just $15. Enjoy the Market Table — full of salads, cured meats, imported cheeses, seasonal soup, and more. Recently added to the Market Table include: blackberry arugula salad with feta and crispy prosciutto, lentil quinoa salad, and carrot and ginger soup. You can even add one grilled selection à la carte to your lunch if you know what you like.

Of course, Fogo de Chão will always be known for its full churrasco experience, but these new features are not to be overlooked. The flexible menu options are sure to make this a stop in your regular restaurant rotation.
