Philly PR Girl’s Top 2016 Highlights

‘Tis the season to celebrate, and Philly PR Girl has much to hip, hip, hooray about from the past year. We moved to a bigger and better office, signed on new clients and watched them soar to new heights, partnered with great charitable committees to help raise money for those in need, and published our 1,000th blog post — just to name a few.  2016 has definitely been a year to remember! Here are some highlights from our year:

PREAKNESS AT THE PIAZZA

Philly PR Girl was off to the races to raise funds and awareness to help put an end to Multiple Sclerosis. A bevy of fancy hats and bowties filled the Piazza this past May as we raised over $130,000 collectively. We love working with Preakness at the Piazza, and we can’t wait to see what the red carpet rolls out next May for the fifth year!

THE WALL CYCLING STUDIO’S KILLER 2016

We know our clients are the best, so it was no surprise that Juliet Sabella’s The Wall Cycling Studio won Philadelphia magazine’s “Best of Philly 2016” in August, as well as Best of Manayunk. In addition to these prestigious titles, Juliet graced the covers of Be Well Philly and Manayunk magazine. The Wall Cycling Studio is powering up Philadelphia, and we couldn’t be prouder of our power player. To top off an amazing year professionally, Juliet’s baby is due any day now, so we are looking forward to the new addition to the PPRG and Wall team soon!

THE PA CONFERENCE FOR WOMEN

Who runs the world? GIRLS. This year’s annual PA Conference for Women in October included Olympic soccer superstar Abby Wambach, actress and comedian Mindy Kaling, and civil rights pioneer Anita Hill.  This unique conference offered something special for its 9,000 attendees by creating opportunities for career workshops, personal growth seminars, and networking functions. We were thrilled to be a part of it!

UNITE 4 HER’S SUE WELDON NAMED 2016 HEALTH HERO

The fifth annual Philly Magazine Health Hero Challenge in November was bursting with benevolence, inspiration and innovation this year.  We were overjoyed to congratulate our client, Sue Weldon, Founder and President of Unite for HER, on winning the grand prize! The proceeds of $10,000 donation from Philadelphia magazine and Independence Blue Cross will go to the continued efforts of the organization. Unite for HER, a nonprofit dedicated to helping women diagnosed with breast cancer focus on wellness initiatives to positively influence their health.

GIRLS AUTO CLINIC OPENS AND CAUSES QUITE A BUZZ

We loved working with our new client, #GirlBoss and #SheCANin Patrice Banks, this year. Planning the “First Look Party” for Girls Auto Clinic and Clutch Beauty Bar in Upper Darby was a blast.  From Harry Connick Jr. show to NPR/WHYY, GAC was EVERYWHERE, and we were happy to play a part in this kick-ass new venture.

TURKEY DAY TAILGATE RAISED CLOSE TO 800 POUNDS OF FOOD

The third annual Turkey Day Tailgate, hosted by Phan Cave and Philly PR Girl, took the gobble game to the next level. With a new turkey-themed throwdown with some of the best Philly chefs, this year’s party was the best one yet. Thanks to Crabby’s Café and Sports Bar, our celebrity judges, and the attendees that brought over 790 pounds of food to donate to Philabundance. Though the Birds were defeated, the turnout was great, the food and drinks were delicious. We’re already talking turkey to plan next year’s tailgate!

While these were some highlights, we can’t forget some other amazing times we’ve had in 2016. There were sooo many more successes and fun moments together — from Gina Gannon winning Daily News Sexy Singles, copious fun Yakitori Boy events, Chloe Johnston’s Bastille Day, partying for a purpose at West Laurel Hill, celebrating 10 years of TOY with DVLF, and traveling to Nashville and Key West with TEANA. We watched Mike & Alex jump in Monarch’s pool, arranged Amy Devan’s of NAVEDA Wedding being featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, took Pennhurst Asylum “patients” to The Q Show, visited Dena Blizzard’s show, and landed clients on the cover of some awesome local publications. None of this would be possible without the united front and fierceness of our hardworking team and supporters.

Philly PR Girl is so grateful of all the opportunities our team, clients and communities have accomplished in 2016. Let’s raise our glasses to a great year, and for the many more to come!
