Monday, August 1

  • Movie Night at Dickinson Square presents Inside Out. Bring your kids, neighbors and friends along with a blanket/chairs and some snacks. Admission is free!
  • The public Watermelon Implosion at PHS pop-up garden on South Street is a fun, interactive part of this month’s Science After Hours program (coming up next week)! Guests will be able to add large rubber bands to a watermelon and watch as the pressure builds until it finally splits.

Wednesday, August 3

  • The rotating Parks on Tap beer garden comes to Jefferson Square Park until Sunday with cold brews, games, food from Chef Mitch Prensky and live music.
  • The 2016 Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival is a five-day city-wide celebration of women in the arts. The festival will produce an opening night cabaret, staged readings, presented works, professional development workshops, and an all-women stand-up comedy showcase.
  • Walk the Littlest Streets of East Broad and see the charming labyrinth of streets that lie west of Washington Square. The village-like setting, right in the heart of Center City, was developed in the mid 19th century and has a rich history.

 

Thursday, August 4

  • Blackstar Film Festival is back for its 5th year and celebrates films by and about artists from throughout the African diaspora.
  • Soon-to-be Flow State Coffeebar is hosting a Gelato Popup at the Da Vinci Art Alliance. No tickets or cover charges, just cash-only pay-as-you-go for the gelato. Free booze and local art will be provided for your pleasure.

 

Friday, August 5

  • Snoop Dogg and Wiz Khalifa are coming to the BB&T Pavilion for The High Road Tour with special guests Jhene Aiko and Kevin Gates.  
  • Bring It! Live will give fans the chance to become part of the action as they see Miss D and her Dancing Dolls perform their never-before-seen routines live onstage. Audience members will take part in live voting, engage in Q+A with the cast, and get the exclusive “behind the scenes” lowdown on the hit Lifetime series.
  • Join the International Wizard of Oz Club for their 2016 National Oz Convention as they celebrate the American fairyland in America’s founding city with activities sure to appeal to fans, scholars, and collectors alike.

 

Saturday, August 6

  • Zuvaa Summer Popup Tour is coming to Philadelphia. Head to Belmont Mansion to shop beautiful African-inspired items and experience beautiful high-quality garments from talented designers around the world.
  • Join Friends of Pretzel Park and Manayunk.com in Pretzel Park for Blues on the Green to kick off the week leading up to WXPN Welcomes The Hidden River Blues Festival!

 

Sunday, August 7

  • 2nd Street Festival will have over 150 craft vendors and 20 food trucks line the street from Germantown Avenue to Spring Garden Street in Northern Liberties. Enjoy three stages for live acts, street performers, kids’ crafts, and six taverns serving beer and cocktails.
  • BB&T Pavilion presents Fifth Harmony’s 7/27 Tour with fellow pop songstresses, JoJo (hopefully with some solid throwback jams) and Victoria Monet.
  • The free Radio 104.5’s Summer Block Party is back for their August Block Party at Festival Pier with an amazing lineup that includes The Struts, Bishop Briggs, 888, The Rebel Light and Sonnder.
