Monday, July 25

  • Sweet Charity is Neil Simon’s tender, poignant and funny look at the misadventures in love of Charity Hope Valentine. Watch as the cast brings this splashy dance musical to vibrant life.
  • Philly Feast will kick off the Democratic National Convention with a food truck festival fit for the City of Brotherly Love. This diverse lineup of local food, live music and a slate of Philly-centric retail vendors will bring together convention attendees, volunteers and Philadelphia residents for the tastiest party in town.
  • Use the Food Connect app to rescue food before it’s wasted and reduce pounds of waste from the DNC (unlike the Pope’s visit). The app matches anyone with an excess of food with pantries and shelters in and around the local Philadelphia community. Download the free app now in iTunes or Google Play.
  • The DNC Official Marijuana Party is hosted at Connies Ric Rac. Check it out  for a night of music, comedy and speeches from cannabis advocates.

Tuesday, July 26

  • Head to Dilworth Park for an All-American Happy Hour. Take in the sights and sounds of the city, while enjoying music, games and great food and drink specials from the Dilworth Park Cafe and Air Grille. Plus, there’ll be red, white and blue décor, an artist’s mural, voting ballot activities, a DJ, and a special appearance from Bud Light brand ambassadors
  • Dance, Shop and Sip with the Philly small business community to celebrate the DNC. Come shop til you drop, all in one place. There will be food, drink and dancing to accompany you while shopping.
  • Cheesesteaks vs. Cheesecake: A NY Philly Food Fight will judge clas­sic foods from Philly and New York. Eat­er­ies will be judged to de­term­ine which city will be­come the East­ern Food Cap­it­al of the US. Rep.Car­o­lyn Malo­ney (D-NY) and Rep. Brendan Boyle (D-PA) will co-host the event and take their place on a pan­el along­side polit­ic­al re­port­ers, food crit­ics, and chefs.
  • Actress Vivica A. Fox, activist group Dogon Village and some PA Dems are hosting a DNC watch party at Penn’s Landing with dinner, dancing and a performance by Grammy Award-winning singer Howard Hewett. Politicianss and civil rights leaders from around the country, are expected to attend.

Wednesday, July 27

  • Take a mini-trip around the world with this fun DNC Heritage Festival. Try a Medi­ter­ranean bur­ger from P’unk Bur­gers, chai from Ch­haya Cafe, or go to Sto­gie Joe’s for some Itali­an cock­tails, wine and beer. Demo­crat­ic VIP speak­ers, live music and dancers will be joining the festivities to cel­eb­rate the di­verse her­it­age of the Na­tion­al Demo­crat­ic Eth­nic Co­ordin­at­ing Coun­cil.
  • Get out and mingle with new people at Happy Hour Adventure, hosted by Brave Adventures, at Frankford Hall. Join in on games and prizes, plus food and drink deals.  
  • DNC Passyunk Passeggiata Street Festival will be closing down East Passyunk Ave to cars so pedestrians can roam and enjoy shopping deals, alfresco dining specials, live music, five DJs and a farmers’ market from early evening until post-convention time.
  • DNC Paint Day at City Hall is hosted by Mural Arts. Delegates, families and visitors alike will have the chance to help paint a new mural that pays tribute to Philadelphia’s hometown professional basketball team, the 76ers.
  • The powerful PAC, Emily’s List, has been supporting pro-choice female candidates since the ’80s and has raised more than $400 million for their causes. They’re hosting a party at the Kimmel Center on July 27th to celebrate with special guests like Ed Rendell.

Thursday, July 28

  • Join us at our very own Philly PR Girl Watch Party as the DNC officially announces its presidential candidate. We’ll be hosting with food & drinks at our HQ in the Philadelphia Building from 7pm. Patriotic attire is encouraged! 
  • ColorWheels comes to Eakins Oval for a fun summer block party activity. Equipped with tools and equipment for mini workshops and demonstrations, ColorWheels is an art studio on the go.

Friday, July 29

  • Pairing Wine and Cheese class at Pinot Boutique is perfect for those who need a little extra help finding a good pairing. Enjoy a guided Wine & Cheese pairing while exploring your own palette and learning what makes for a good pairing.
  • Let loose with the Post-DNC Dance Party Under the Shambles. This party will feature the remarkable music of the BlackBird Society Orchestra,  one of the most celebrated ensembles in the region, the BSO specializes in music of the early jazz age that will be sure to have everyone swinging.

Saturday, July 30

  • Philadelphia Dance Day 2016 is back for its seventh annual year. Join local dance companies throughout the city for a day packed with 25+ FREE workshops, live performances and $5 evening dance party.
