It’s summertime, and the kids are out school! Now there’s time to explore and have fun all day long. We’ve found the best spots to take them during the break that will keep their minds engaged and entertained throughout the summer.

For escaping the heat or rain…

  • Kids at Play* is a state-of-the-art indoor playground featuring a zip line, ball pit swings and slides. All the activities are perfect for toddlers up to 12 year-olds! See their July “Beat the Heat” special promo.
  • Please Touch Museum is any kid’s dream. They’re encouraged to play and touch any or all of the museum’s exhibits. The museum has art, music and theater exhibits.
  • Even if it’s raining, the kids will feel like they’re outside at the Indoor Children’s Garden at Longwood Gardens. With plant displays, water features, sculptures and secret stairways, the whole family will never want to leave.
  • The nature-themed play area at Nest has dress-up clothes, toys, books, and a playhouse that can keep your kids entertained for hours. Better yet, the space also includes classes, a salon, a boutique and party spaces for kids.
  • Located in South Philly, Adventures Mini Golf’s indoor 18-hole mini-golf course is cosmic themed. If the kids get tired of playing golf, don’t worry! There’s also an arcade, plus food and drinks for a mid-game break.

For fun in the sun…

  • The Philadelphia Zoo is home to more than 1,300 species. Spend the day exploring one of the many animal exhibits or going to the zoo’s attractions (which now include a beer garden for mommy and daddy).
  • Located in East Fairmount Park, Smith Memorial Playground & Playhouse is home to both a massive and FREE playhouse and playground, perfect for kids 10 and younger.
  • Explore the gardens of Morris Arboretum for a day out with the kids. Not only will they have a chance to run around, but they’ll also learn the relationship between planets and people.
  • Take a day trip to Sesame Place in Langhorne, where your kids can spend the day running around the theme park. With rides, water rides and shows, the kids will never want to leave their furry friends.
