What’s going on This Week in Philly…

Monday, February 29

  • Happy Leap Year! Celebrate the once-every-four years event at Vesper Night Club for the Secrets of the Speakeasy: Magic in the Mind with Francis Menotti. For only $15 tickets, you get drink specials and a magical hour-long display. Since it is a nightclub, you do have to be 21 years old to enter.
  • This is the last week to go to the Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest at Penn’s Landing before it closes for the season! Be sure to get all of your ice skating in before it turns into Spruce Street Harbor Park for the spring.

 

Tuesday, March 1

  • Tuesday is the first day for The Science Behind Pixar at The Franklin Institute! This exhibit behind the scenes of some of our favorite animated movies. This will be for the whole family, no one is too young or too old for this exhibit!

 

Wednesday, March 2

  • Every Wednesday is BYO Wine/Beer Night at the Philadelphia Film Society Roxy Theater. This week, there are two screenings of 9 to 5 at 7 and 9:30 p.m. See this hilarious movie while sipping on your favorite drink at the PFS Signature Series BYO: WORKIN’ IT.

 

Thursday, March 3

  • Tony Award-winner Sutton Foster is coming to Philadelphia! She is the star of the new hit TV series Younger and now she’s going to be at the Merriam Theater at 8 p.m. to perform her acclaimed solo show.
  • March is Women’s History Month, so we love that there will be a beer tasting with woman in business at New Century Trust! While tasting brews, have a conversation with the women in the brewing business in Philly, as well. Light snacks will also be included.

 

Friday, March 4

  • The Harlem Globetrotters will be entertaining Philly at the Liacouras Center! Take the family to see the fun basketball show to start the weekend off right. The show begins at 7 p.m. The event will also be held at the Wells Fargo Center on Sunday, March 6.
  • Celebrate Easter a bit early at Philadelphia Mills with free, fun, and family-friendly events! Easter bunny photos are the highlight for this week, and as the day gets closer, more festivities will be revealed for the coming weeks.
  • It’s Brain Injury Awareness Month, and Penn Medicine is hosting Mind Your Brain, a free conference for brain injury survivors, families, and anyone interested in learning. There will be experts on neuroscience, presentations, and plenty more!

 

Saturday, March 5

  • The Philadelphia Flower Show returns to the Pennsylvania Convention Center until March 13th. This year, the theme is Explore America: 100 Years of National Park Service to salute America’s natural treasures and protect our landscapes throughout the country. See the most beautiful flowers and gardens you’ll ever see at this annual event!
  • Head to the Kimmel Center for Philly POPS: The Music of Billy Joel! Hear songs like “New York State of Mind,” “Only the Good Die Young,” and also songs Joel has been inspired by like “Great Balls of Fire.” Michael Cavanaugh is the singer, who was handpicked by Billy Joel himself to play the lead in the Broadway musical Movin’ Out, so you do not want to miss this!
  • Society Hill Playhouse is hosting a final curtain call before they close on April 1. Come see Liberty City Radio Theatre, a new original show filled with romance, crime, comedy, and drama. Tickets are only $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Doors open at 7 p.m. for some pre-show music and cocktails!

 

Sunday, March 6

  • The Philadelphia Museum of Art is hosting the Watson Adventures’ Murder Scavenger Hunt! A unique event for adults filled with clues to solve a murder mystery, plus museum admission is included with your ticket. Advance purchase is required so get your tickets now before they sell out!
