What to Expect at This Year’s Philadelphia Auto Show

The 115th annual Philadelphia Auto Show is well underway, but we had the opportunity to go check out the new whips and rides before the big crowds on Media Day last Friday, January 29th. We are car lovers, so why not fantasize over cars we may probably never own when we can not only dream about them, but see them in person? Over 700 vehicles branching from over 40 different manufactures have taken over the Philadelphia Convention Center for the week. The Auto Show is one of the top events for our city. It brings a lot of people into town, and it is perfect for a family outing or a nice date.

carsAfter check in, we entered the main floor where we were greeted by displays from Honda and Nissan. Just by looking out over the room, you can see right away how easy it is to spend hours simply strolling around to
each dealer, getting a feel for what it’s like to sit behind the wheel, and speaking with the representatives. And one can certainly spend a lot of time at the Auto Show; after all, there are over 700,000 square feet to cover.

Produced by the Automobile Dealers Association of Greater Philadelphia, the annual Auto Show offers interactive experiences for customers to gain a better understanding of the concepts of the vehicles, and to make the show more enjoyable for everyone. Top on our list was the Pope’s Fiat, Camp Jeep, and the DUB Tour room.

The Papal Fiat, parked in the left corner of the room, was definitely pegged as a main attraction. It was quite a feeling to see the vehicle in person, knowing that Pope Francis was actually in that car only a few months ago. His historic visit was an unforgettable one.

carCamp Jeep is an interactive zone that allows you to test ride the latest additions to the Jeep family while professional Jeep drivers explain the design and engineering behind it. Expect a wait for the minute ride, but when else are you going to cruise in Jeep in the Convention Center? It’s worth it.

Take the escalator to the ground floor and you will find where all of the specialty, tricked out and customized rides reside. Looking like they came straight out of a Fast and Furious movie, get up close and personal with the DUB Live exhibit. Enter on the red carpeted floor because, well, these cars are the showstoppers!

Don’t miss your opportunity to see the latest and greatest in the automotive world at The Philadelphia Auto Show. The last day to see the rides before they roll out is Sunday, February 7th.
