Well, it’s that’s time of year again! Holiday shopping is in full force. And what better way to get your shopping on than at some of the many small, locally-owned businesses in the Philadelphia area? Sure, we love our chains like H&M and Zara, but there is something about that boutique/mom-and-pop shop charm that keeps loyal customers returning time and again.
Saturday, November 28th from 11 a.m. from 6 p.m. is American Express Small Business Saturday. Ever since its start in 2010, the campaign’s popularity has grown ten-fold. The U.S. Senate recognized Small Business Saturday as an official day in 2011; in 2012, 73.9 million people went shopping. In 2013, 1,450 neighborhood champions rallied their communities on Eventbrite to advocate for shopping locally. Last year alone, Americans spent $14.3 billion at local businesses within that 24-hour window. What will 2015 bring? That’s up to you!
