Local Philadelphia Shops Participating in Small Business Saturday

Well, it’s that’s time of year again! Holiday shopping is in full force. And what better way to get your shopping on than at some of the many small, locally-owned businesses in the Philadelphia area? Sure, we love our chains like H&M and Zara, but there is something about that boutique/mom-and-pop shop charm that keeps loyal customers returning time and again.

Saturday, November 28th from 11 a.m. from 6 p.m. is American Express Small Business Saturday. Ever since its start in 2010, the campaign’s popularity has grown ten-fold. The U.S. Senate recognized Small Business Saturday as an official day in 2011; in 2012, 73.9 million people went shopping. In 2013, 1,450 neighborhood champions rallied their communities on Eventbrite to advocate for shopping locally. Last year alone, Americans spent $14.3 billion at local businesses within that 24-hour window. What will 2015 bring? That’s up to you!

Philly PR Girl is partnering up with 95.7 BEN-FM to highlight some of the small businesses around Philly participating in this big day! You can listen to Kate talk about these shops on Ben Around Philly the morning of Saturday, November 28th. Here we’re giving you the scoop on what you can expect!

ellelauri – 114 South 19th Street

First things first, ellelauri in Rittenhouse Square! This store is one of our faves. Why? Because the ladies who own this Philly boutique know how to design and sell women’s fashion that’s chic, unique, and offered at everyday, affordable prices. For #SBS, they are offering 20% off their entire store at all of their locations in Avalon, Rittenhouse, and Suburban Square on the Main Line.

DFTI Boutique – 2026 Chestnut Street

The DFTI Boutique offers shoppers a different perspective on the “boutique” experience.  Styles are handpicked by owner Ashley N Taylor, who has been a buyer for various retailers for over five years.  DFTI Boutique gives customers that one-on-one, personal shopping experience without the high-end price tag. With items under $100, you’re able to browse the racks without fear of sticker shock. New styles arrive three times a week, which makes finding a trendy outfit easy. Upload a photo of your purchase with #dftiboutique for 20% off your purchase. For every item you buy, you’re entered to win a $100 gift card to shop with them!

Just Cats and Dogs 1700 Sansom Street

We can’t forget our furry friends on #SBS. After all, they need some pampering, too! Just Dogs and Cats provides canines and felines with the world’s tastiest treats and confections, hand-made using only all-natural, human-grade ingredients. They’re on a social mission to assist the animal rescue groups in the area, including Morris Animal Refuge, PAWS, and the PSPCA. Buy any of their products on Small Business Saturday, and they will donate 10% revenue to PAWS. Check out their store for any other special discounts!

Hand and Stone Logan Square*  2000 Hamilton Street

Hand and Stone, while a larger franchise, is still a local favorite at it’s Philly location. And they want to offer you some super saving deals too, because after all, shopping is stressful! Schedule an appointment on the 28th, like their Facebook page, and show that you liked their page when you arrive. It will get you 50% off a peppermint scalp massage, a hot towel foot massage, or a mini-cold stone face massage!

The Little Apple 4353 Main Street Manayunk

This is another cute little store, great for finding delightfully clever gifts! They have vintage and repurposed goods of all kinds; we’re talking home goods, accessories, cards, and more. For the big day, they will open early at 10 a.m. to offer special giveaways, discounts, and refreshments for all of their beloved customers. The first 100 people to make a purchase will receive a gift card to Bourbon Blue restaurant. The Little Apple will also offer complimentary holiday wrapping – plus, 10% off of all holiday greeting cards!

BUS STOP – 727 S. 4th St

This shoe boutique offers coveted styles from London, Paris and New York. As part of AMEX’s commitment to support small business, and because BUS STOP loves their customers so, enjoy 25% off select shoe, boot, and handbag styles for guys and girls.

Smak Parlour – 219 Market Street

This boutique offers all things fierce and feminine, paying homage to the different eras of fashion by offering clothes from every time period! They are doing an awesome giveaway this Black Friday/ Small Biz Saturday: For every purchase of $50 or more, they are giving away a pair of fabulous gloves! Plus, they will also have fresh markdowns on holiday dresses. Have you got your holiday party outfit figured out yet?

Pinot Boutique 227 Market Street

After shopping all day, you may need a glass of wine! That’s where Pinot Boutique has your back. This adorable shop has all of the wine and wine accessories you need, at prices you’ll adore. With any $50 purchase, you can get a free Magic Leaning Wine Bottle Holder (a $15 value) or a free Wine Tasting Glass and Hands-Free Lanyard. With the purchase of three or more bottles of wine, all from amazing local wineries, customers will get a free 4-Bottle Wine Tote – great for use at local BYOs!

Art in the Age – 116 North 3rd Street

Talk about a unique, one-of-a-kind store. Not only does this boutique boast their own line of in-house liqueurs,  clothing, and accessories. They also host performances and art exhibitions, including visual artists, musicians, and authors who embody and practice their ideals. For SBS, Art in the Age is offering 20% off store-wide. There will also be a representative from Shockoe Denim hosting a special trunk sale with items not normally sold in-store!

SWAG Boutique – 935 North 2nd Street

Okay, we seriously love this store. Why? Because it might just be the coolest thing since sliced bread. If you are looking for a gift, but don’t know what to get, they have you covered. SWAG carries innovative kitchenware, home decor, and accessories for men, women, and children. For SBS, they’re offering discounts up to 50% off on selected items! Plus, they will be upping the ante in celebration of their 5th Anniversary! Enjoy light snacks and drinks while you shop, in addition to swag bags filled with gifts (five of which were stuffed with $25 gift certificates). Come out and get your SWAG on!

If you are a small business owner and you want to get in on the day, it’s super easy to do. Eventbrite will be your go-to place to help you sponsor your own event and get your neighborhood out shopping and supporting your store! Also, make sure to like the Small Business Saturday on Facebook!
