What’s Happening This Week in Philly…

Get ready! This edition of This Week In Philly is so packed that it needs an introduction! This is the week where the holiday season really starts. Thanksgiving is here, and along with it, all the deals, steals, and shopping that comes with Black Friday and Small Business Saturday! Beyond that, so many great venues are opening up around the city – from long-awaited sights to seasonal favorites. Without further adieuhere are all of the events taking place in Philadelphia around Thanksgiving 2015!

Monday, November 23

  • The Flyers take on the Carolina Hurricanes at the Wells Fargo Center. The game is at 7 p.m., and tickets start at $52!

Tuesday, November 24

  • The Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest returns Wednesday, and they are throwing a Preview Party to celebrate the fun! You will be the first to dig your blades into the ice this season and enjoy all this seasonal venue has to offer. Tickets sold out fast last year, so be sure to get yours soon!
  • The Comcast Holiday Spectacular returns! The 15-minute show takes place at the top of the hour from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., taking visitors on a festive, musical journey. Holiday favorite songs include Carol of the Bells, Jingle Bell Rock, and The Twelve Days of Christmas.
  • MANNA’s Pie in the Sky, presented by American Airlines, is their annual Thanksgiving fundraiser. The money from each pie sold will go towards meals that nourish our neighbors battling life-threatening illnesses during the holiday season. If you ordered a pie, you can pick it up on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  • Join Brownies Irish Pub for some good, old-fashioned karaoke to kick-off the Thanksgiving festivities! There will be beer specials from 4 to 11 p.m. (take note, smoking is allowed at this Old City dive bar).

Wednesday November 25

  • The NehemIah Davis Foundation presents the 8th annual Food From Heaven Thanksgiving event. Their goal is to serve warm meals to more then 800 homeless citizens & families in the community. While dining, guests will enjoy a live band, a dance performance & several other forms of entertainment. Our guest will also leave with a warm coat and the men will have a chance to get a haircut.
  • Fear not, if you didn’t get to go to the Preview Party for Blue Cross RiverRink Winterfest, it officially opens to the public on Wednesday. Come ice skating, grab a hot chocolate, and have some fun! We can’t wait!
  • There are so many things you can do to get into the holiday spirit on Thanksgiving Eve. For one, check out the Electrical Spectacle Light Show that will happen nightly starting at 4:30 p.m. in Franklin Square!
  • The Tony Bruno Show, featuring Sports Radio Host Tony Bruno, will launch November 25. Come be a part of the live audience for this combination sports radio/late night TV show!

Saturday, November 28

  • American Express Small Business Saturday helps you share the love with smaller, local businesses. Check out American Express online for a full list of participating stores in Philly! Also, Philly PR Girl will be highlighting 10 of our favorite spots with BEN-FM 95.7 Saturday morning on Ben Around Philly!  
  • LOVE Park Christmas Village is opened on the 26th, but come on out for the official grand opening beginning at 3 p.m. You can meet the Christkind: the Giver of Gifts traditionally recognized by European countries, and a character kids are sure to love. There will be live music, food, and more.
  • The much-anticipated One Liberty Observation Deck is opening! The deck offers panoramic views of Philadelphia from the 57th floor of One Liberty Place. Tickets are available for purchase 365 days a year, and the site is open from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m.

Sunday, November 29

  • Decompress from your crazy week with the soothing sounds of jazz by the Arturo Stable Bass-less Trio at the World Cafe Live. Master Percussionist and Composer Arturo Stable is considered by the jazz media at the forefront of his musical generation. Grab your tickets, a drink, and kick back and unwind!
