Monday, July 6

  • Happy National Fried Chicken Day! To celebrate, Federal Donuts is selling their mega-popular fried chicken sandwiches for $7, normally only available at the Port FedNuts location, at all four locations for today only. They’ll be selling them from 11 a.m. until they sell out – they’re bound to go quick, so get a spot in line early!
  • Grab the kids for Story Art, a nature-inspired story and craft event at Sister Cities Park. From 10:30 – 11:30 a.m., kids can create their own make-and-take nature craft and discover the fun of being read to outdoors.
  • Celebrate Fete Day 2015 at Elfreth’s Alley, the nation’s oldest residential street! From 1 – 5 p.m., don’t miss your only chance of the year to step into the private homes of Elfreth’s Alley, and there will be plenty of crafts, music, and colonial games to enjoy as well.
  • Join Xfinity Live! for their Family Movie Night, featuring Despicable Me. The first 400 kids will receive a Minions rally towel, and this free event will have great games and activities starting at 5 p.m., and the movie starts at 6 p.m.

Tuesday, July 7

  • Head to the Philadelphia Zoo for the next installment of their family-family concert series, Rock ‘N’ Roar. Remember to bring blankets and snacks for this live children’s music event that is free with zoo admission. The concert begins at 11 a.m. on the Impala Lawn.
  • The qFLIXphiladelphia LGBTQ film festival begins today! Running through July 12, this festival’s vision is to preserve the tradition and exhibition of American and International LGBTQ film in the Philadelphia region. The opening film begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Perelman Theater, and click here for the complete festival programming.
  • Right over the bridge catch Kid Rock on his “First Kiss: Cheap Date” Tour at the Susquehanna Bank Center in Camden, NJ. With special guest Foreigner, this will definitely be a show to remember! Doors open at 6:45 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here.
  • Watch this month’s installment of the Philadelphia Film Society’s Film Lab series: Donnie Darko. The film begins at 7:30 p.m. at the PFS Roxy Theater, followed by a discussion with Jeff Blomquist, MS, on current developments in our understanding of the permeability of time, time travel, and time paradoxes. Wednesday, July 8

  • Visit Sister Cities Park from 10 – 10:30 a.m. for Children & Nature: Growing Up Green, the weekly event with unique activities to encourage outdoor play and inspire a greater connection with the outdoor world. Children, ages 3 and over are encouraged to attend this free event.
  • Enjoy a night at the stunning Philadelphia Magic Gardens for their July Garden Sips event. From 6 – 9 p.m., enjoy PBR and delicious summer cocktails, arts and crafts, and cool tunes on vinyl all while benefiting PMG’s community programming and site preservation. Click here to purchase tickets.

Thursday, July 9

  • Get excited for Bastille Day with the Fairmount French Fling Bar Crawl! From 6 p.m. – 2 a.m., enjoy food and beer specials after you check in at Urban Saloon, where you’ll also get your very own French bow-tie and the bar crawl map. For more information, click here.
  • Enjoy delicious cocktails and appetizers at Cooper River Distillers at their Yappy Hour, a fundraising happy hour to benefit the Young Friends of the Pennsylvania SPCA. The event is from 6 – 9 p.m., and you’re more than welcome to bring your dog!
  • Get a much better view of space at Night Skies in the Observatory, the monthly stargazing event held in the Joel N. Bloom Observatory at the Franklin Institute. From 7 – 9 p.m., choose from 5 different rooftop telescopes to see stars, planets, nebulae, or even a galaxy! Friday, July 10

  • Learn different ethnic folk dances from around the world at Folk Dance on Fridays at the Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. From 5 – 6:15 p.m., learn some new moves and get some exercise with no prior experience or partner needed! Entry is $7, but your first visit is free.
  • Catch a different kind of comedy show at the Actors Center with The N Crowd, an improv comedy troupe with a show guided by live audience suggestions. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show begins at 8 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here for $12 in advance, and can also be purchased for $15 at the door.
  • Get ready for the next film in the Awesome Fest free film festival, showcasing a lineup of cutting-edge independent film premieres at Liberty Lands in Northern Liberties. This week’s film is Roar and starts at 9 p.m. Click here for more information and the complete festival lineup.

Saturday, July 11

  • Singer-songwriters Colbie Caillat and Christina Perri join forces for their “The Girls Night Out, Boys Can Come Too” Tour, gracing the Mann Center at 7 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.,and tickets can be purchased here.
  • Combine science and food at the Franklin Institute at their Kitchen Science program series. This week, learn the science behind Pop Rocks! The program is from 11:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. and is free with general admission.
  • Head to the Jersey shore for a beer festival you won’t want to miss. The Cape May County Barefoot Beer Festival will be one to remember, with over 40 breweries showcasing their unique brews, unlimited pours in a keepsake sampling glass, world-class chef-prepared food, and so much more!   • If you loved scavenger hunts as a kid, you’ll love this grown up version – The Murder at the Art Museum Scavenger Hunt, presented by Watson Adventures. Grab a team and try to solve a murder mystery as you search the Philadelphia Museum of Art for clues. Sunday, July 12

  • Check out the future site of the Kensington Community Food Co-op while perusing vendors selling household goods, furniture, clothing, and art at their Neighborhood Flea Market. The market is from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., and click here for more information.
  • You won’t want to miss Say Anything at the Electric Factory, featuring both a string quartet and guitars that will make this a Say Anything show unlike any you’ve seen before. The opening acts are Cymbals Eat Guitars, Hard Girls, and Philly’s own Modern Baseball. Doors open at 7 p.m., and tickets can be purchased here.
  • Join Doc Magrogan’s for the 3rd Annual Philadelphia Craft Beer, Crab, and Clam Festival, with tickets including 10 (6 oz!) craft brew samples, a complimentary custom pint glass, the area’s best seafood, and so much more!
