Monday, April 27

  • Meet dynamic local scientists and engineers in Philly for great discussion at the Big Ideas for Busy People event about the advances in the science industry. Doors open at 7 p.m. at the WHYY building on 150 North 6th Street. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for WHYY members.
  • WKDU presents the vintage ska stylings of RK$TDY and singer/songwriter Dave Wakeling of English Beat at World Cafe Live. Doors open at 7 p.m. and tickets range from $25-$38 and there are just a few reserved tables left!

Tuesday, April 28

  • Join *DVLF in their reoccurring event, Our Night @ La Peg, to  network and mingle with Philadelphia’s finest while enjoying light hors d’oeuvres at this gorgeous waterfront venue. The Attic Youth Center is acting as community partner this month, so prepare to learn about the full service community center’s services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning youth and young adults. All $5 door donations will be going to support their programming.

Wednesday, April 29

  • Get ready for the upcoming wedding season with the classic movie Father of the Bride! Wedding Season screenings are a part of BYO Wine Night at the Roxy. Bring a bottle and pay a $2 Corkage Fee per person. General admission is $10.

Thursday, April 30

  • Join the 3rd Annual Food Truck Round Up, part of Dining Out for Life Philadelphia, located at 13th and Locust. Grab your co-workers, fellow students or foodie friends and head on over for an amazing lunch from your favorite food trucks!
  • Professional singer Lisa Fischer was on tour with the Rolling Stones, Sting, Chris Botti, and Nine Inch Nails. She’s now coming to the Keswick Theatre to perform her hits! The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets range from $30-$45.
  • Chaz Bundick started recording from his bedroom under the name Toro y Moi in 2001. Drawing from a wide range of influences, including Daft Punk and J Dill, Bundick is set to perform hits from his 2015 release What For? at Union Transfer at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Friday, May 1

  • First Friday! Red Light Jazz: Ragtime Revivals features a number of legendary musicians. Listen to ragtime music from the 1920’s and travel through the years to contemporary jazz at the Ben Franklin Parkway from 6 – 9 p.m. Tickets are $25 and free for members of The Barnes Foundation.
  • Come rock the night away with the Sensational Soul Cruisers on Cruisin’ for the Cure. Join MSRI for a night of eating, drinking, and dancing, all while helping to FIND, STOP, and CURE Multiple Sclerosis. This event will take place at The Sheet Metal Workers Banquet Hall from 8 p.m. – 2 a.m.

Saturday, May 2

  • Sesame Place is celebrating 35 years of furry fun! The park will be decorated with party decorations and a big, inflatable cake for the very first time. The party starts at 10 a.m.
  • Philly’s largest Irish Festival, The 2015 Philadelphia Fleadh, is coming to Bensalem! There will be 5 stages featuring live Celtic rock. Bring your instruments and join the session workshops with world renowned experts, or come relax in the Trad tent with live traditional music from top players from around the globe. Enjoy food, pints, a Kid’s Play Zone, shopping, 2 Ceili Sessions, a Live Feis at the Fleadh, and much more!
  • The South Street Spring Festival is kicking off its summer season with eight blocks of food, drinks, music, arts, and shopping! Check out their schedule for events going on throughout the day.
  • Check out Rittenhouse Row Spring Festival this week, filled with food, fashion, and entertainment! The festival takes over six blocks of Walnut Street, between Broad and 19th streets. Stop by with friends and family and enjoy a full day of fun!

Sunday, May 3

  • The 35th Annual Blue Cross Broad Street Run is a 10-mile, point-to-point course running from the northern edge of the city to the Philadelphia Navy Yard on the Delaware Waterfront. Thousands of runners participate in the annual run that passes many of the city’s most important landmarks including. Cheer on a friend or loved one, catch some of the race or participate yourself!
  • Save the date for Philadelphia’s Taste of the Nation for No Kid Hungry at Loews Hotel. You can participate to make a difference! Tickets are $95 for general admission and $145 for VIP access.
  • On Philly’s last encounter with Action Bronson, the rapper was spotted performing on stage, and on a trailer, during the 2014 Roots Picnic. Now, Bronson brings The Mr. Wonderful Tour to the TLA in May. Tickets are $30-$42 and the show starts at 9 p.m.
