Koresh Dance Company Combines Dance with Fashion This Weekend

“Technical. Emotional. Intense.” These are just a few words to describe the upcoming performance of Aftershock, bolstered by the annual fundraiser, Koresh Kouture. A fashion-themed silent auction and gala hosted by Koresh Dance Company, this year’s fundraiser is set to take place on Saturday, March 28 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Described as “the most exciting dance experience in Philadelphia,” by Philadelphia Weekly and “the most expressive dance company,” by the Philadelphia Inquirer, Koresh will be partnering with non-profit organization, Philadelphia Fashion Incubator, for the first time to show off designs by some of Philadelphia’s best fashion designers.

Spearheaded by legendary fashionista Joan Shepp, The Host Committee of Philadelphia Leaders will present a premiere performance of Aftershock, Artistic Director, Ronen Koresh’s reflection on his emigration from Israel to the United States and its impact on his artistic development and identity. Aftershock will illustrate the dangers and difficulties of building artistic integrity in a new place by Koresh dancers, including the reverberation of hostile receptions, the challenge of gaining acceptance and the risk of losing oneself to the expectations of a new environment.

The night will kick off at 6 p.m. with a pre-performance cocktail hour of wine tastings sponsored by Moore Brothers Wine Company, followed by the silent auction and phenomenal dance performance. The night will come to an end for the reception at 10 p.m., where the Koresh dancers will model the participating designer’s own unique designs. The designers for the event include Bela Shehu, Jovan O’Connor, Terese Sydonna Brown, Victoria Wright, ARMOUR Philadelphia and Amy Devan of NAVEDA*.

The silent auction to support the Arts will include over 20  items such as luxurious getaways, VIP tickets to The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, artisanal jewelry, decorative art and much more.
