Ladies and gents, it is time to bring in the Year of the Sheep!  We’re told to wear black and blue this year and to carry lots of sheep memorabilia to ward off bad luck. But let’s not forget about the best part about this colorful holiday – the celebrations!  There is countless fun, food, and activities for everyone, no matter how you want to celebrate Chinese New Year in Philadelphia!  Which one (or five) will you be attending?

If you’re celebrating with kids…

The Please Touch Museum is offering a special program all weekend long, from February 19-21st. Children will be thrilled to learn about Chinese characters and learn how to recreate them with ink. Melanie Hsu and The Superhero Collective will be performing, putting fun electro-pop twists on traditional Chinese kids’ songs. Did we mention there will be ribbon dancing?! Get the full scoop here.

If you need a night out…

The Mainstreet Program of the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation is hosting the 2015 Chinatown New Year Banquet. On Tuesday, February 24, a 10-course dinner will be served at the Sang Kee Peking Duck House at 238 N. 9th St. Buy single tickets or a group of 10 ASAP, as this event will sell out today!

If you want to #DOAC…

Lunar New Year Karaoke will be hosted at Bally’s on the Atlantic City Boardwalk on Saturday, February 21st. Sing your heart out from 4 p.m. to midnight and celebrate new beginnings. Before you warm up your vocal chords, enjoy the Lion Dance Parade that will travel from Bally’s to Cesar’s starting at 2 p.m.

If you’re looking for fun…

From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, February 22nd, the Great Valley High School in Malvern, PA will be opening its doors with activities for all. The day will start out with traditional music and poetry, the party will continue on with chopsticks contests and competitive games.

If you appreciate the arts…
