Monday, February 9

  • Oscar chronicles the legendary Oscar Wilde’s trial and imprisonment for “the love that dare not speak its name.” As Wilde, David Daniels electrifies the stage with a “mix of arrogance and vulnerability” (The New York Times). Catch it on select dates at the Academy of Music! Times and prices vary based on showing.

Tuesday, February 10

  • Introducing Science with a twist! The Franklin Institute hosts a monthly evening series exclusively for adults 21+ featuring experiments, demonstrations, games, and more. February’s theme is Speak Easy: A Celebration of All Things Outlawed.
  • Technical.ly Philly hosts NET/WORK, a technology job fair being held at Union Transfer. The companies at NET/WORK are psyched to show off their company culture – and to get to know you outside of your resume! This event will be from 1 p.m to 7 p.m.
  • Join Network After Work at Ladder 15 on 1528 Sansom St from 6 – 9 p.m. Network After Work is America’s premier face-to-face business networking company. Come out before 7 p.m. to take advantage of a free drink and light bites!
  • Co-Founder of OKCupid, Christian Rudder explores concepts from his new book, Dataclysm, at a speaking engagement at Philadelphia Performing Arts: A String Theory Charter School. Learn about how social signals including “likes”, “retweets” and Google searches reveal how people express themselves both privately and publicly.

Wednesday, February 11

  • The Kimmel Center presents Shaping Sound: Dance Reimagined, a mash-up of dance styles and musical genres presented by choreographers featured on “Dancing With The Stars” and “So You Think You Can Dance.” Tickets to this one-night engagement are $40-60.

Thursday, February 12

  • Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens are hosting a discussion of “Orphan Train” by Christina Baker Klein at noon. “Orphan Train” is this year’s One Book, One Philadelphia selection, a joint project of the Mayor’s Office and the Free Library of Philadelphia. This event is free with admission, and bagged lunches are welcome.
  • Last week, the Franklin Institute unveiled the world’s largest display of LEGO art for The Art of The Brick, made up of more than 100 works created entirely from LEGOs by contemporary artist, Nathan Sawaya. February 12th is the Art of The Brick Free Educator Preview Day for educators with valid ID!

Friday, February 13

  • All 90’s kids will love “There’s 90’s To Be Done“, a themed night at the Barbary featuring the top hits of the 1990’s, from the Spice Girls to Aqua, Janet and Michael and more. Hang out from 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. and have fun trading Valentine’s Day cards.
  • The 17th Annual Tattoo Convention is back this year at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.  Whether you’re an artist or enthusiast, check out all of the incredible art and maybe even get inked yourself this weekend! It’s $22 for the day or $45 for a 3-day pass.
  • Dr. Dave “The Soul Mate Specialist” and Emisha “Mimi” Williams are hosting Noir Rouge, a uniquely fun experience for those looking for love. Enjoy a two-hour open bar at Marmont Steakhouse with complimentary hors d’oeuvres and great music. A sultry red and black dress code is expected!

Saturday, February 14

  • Back in its 5th year, First Person Arts is hosting yet another “anti-Valentine’s Day” story slam. 10 storytellers will be selected from volunteers in the audience to share personal stories centering around the theme, the Ex-Files. Seated tickets are sold out, but $14 standing room tickets are still available!
  • Just because you’re “desperate and dateless”, doesn’t mean you can’t have a good time on Valentine’s Day! Head out to The Irish Pub for their Annual Desperate and Dateless party and enjoy drink specials while playing games and winning prizes. DJ Justin Allphin will be hosting, and the festivities start at 8 p.m.

Sunday, February 15

  • Cure your Valentine’s Day hangover with a boozy Brunch Party featuring cocktails, Prosecco bottle service and decadent breakfast bites at Palladino’s on Passyunk. The best part? Pastry Chef Jennifer Morales is giving each couple a special take-home gift of milk chocolate and dark chocolate truffles!
  • Philly Small Business Fashion Week kicks off on Sunday, offering entrepreneurs and small business owners the chance to market, promote and showcase their products and services. From the 15th through the 21st, discover valuable connections within the business and fashion world. 100% of the program’s profits will benefit Jaden’s Voice, a nonprofit focused on enhancing the lives of individuals with autism and their families.
